Per Kent Pavelka tweet, passed away last night. 70s Husker QB great and long-time Oakland Raider. Held all the school passing records until Zac Taylor if I remember right.

Oh man, so sorry to read that. Dave The Dealer was a really good guy who I met through a mutual friend. Not surprisingly, given his pedigree, he had a reputation on campus as a hell of a poker player. Not only was he a great passer but he was one of the best I've seen at any level at hiding the ball on play fakes. I still remember one third and short against Missouri where he faked the ball to the I-back and then actually walked up to the LOS and looked over the pile of players as if checking to see if the runner had made the first before whipping the ball to the receiver for about a 20 yard gain. RIP.

Dave Humm was simply a great person and Nebraska was lucky to have had him in Lincoln. I think in today's fast pace offenses, he would have fit in just fine, he processed quickly and threw on the money. RIP!
I still remember the 73 orange bowl he had a great game hit johnny rogers on a 50 yard td bomb. Man just seems like yesterday how time really does fly.
I had the good fortune to watch him play in person multiple times. He was considered the No. 1 qb in the country when he signed with Nebraska...those were the years when freshmen played on the freshman team....My most vivid memory: In 1973, I was a freshman at the University of Missouri and Nebraska played in Columbia that year. Down a TD late in the game, Humm drove Nebraska down the field for a TD..bing, bang, bong on his passes. Went for 2 and the win, but pass to Tony Davis was deflected and fell incomplete. Game over. The year before, in Lincoln, I witnessed Humm & Co. roll up 60 or was it 70 points on the Tigers.......The 1973 headline in the World Herald after the Missouri win..."Mizzou says Show Me...NU Can't. Humm was smooth in the pocket.
So sad that a person goes from an amazing athlete like he was to a person that is wheel chair-ridden. Such a cruel disease. RIP.
I have a friend who lived a couple of doors down from Humm in the dorm. He said there was a parade of females knocking on Humm's door at all hours of the day and night, every day of the week. The sexual revolution was in full swing. David Humm picked the perfect time to be a handsome stud quarterback on a college campus.
It isn't about offending you, me, or anyone else on this board. It's putting very personal information about him out there after his death that may or may not even be true and insinuating things second hand while his family grieves. It's not about you, or me. It is bad taste to spread such rumors, especially on a RIP thread. We have no manners or respect for personal privacy anymore.
Back around 1972 when I was about 8 years old, my dad took me to a Husker football breakfast at ICC here in Omaha. I got my picture taken with Dave Humm that made it into the Omaha World Herald. I even have an 8x10 glossy of the picture.
He was always a really nice guy in college. I remember going to a party with him and him telling people I was a defensive back, which I wasn’t. RIP
Still doesn't bother me. I don't see it disparaging him. Then again, I'm not ashamed of my college years.
