RIP Ellie May Clampett

Noticed that Donna Douglass died yesterday at 83. When Beverly Hillbillies premiered she must have been close to 30.

The only cast member still alive is Max Baer, Jr.

That does mean that she was 29 when the show started and 38 when it ended. That girl had the genes. Died from pancreatic cancer...which is one of the least survivable. I think you can consider 83 years a full life. After that age, I'm sure quality starts going down hill for most. I would put her in the catagory of the other 2 women who had great tv shows during that time frame...I dream of jeannie and bewitched. probably too old for most posters on here to remember. All 3 women were hot hot.

Some of the most beautiful women ever on television are from that period. Elizabeth Montgomery, Barbara Eden, and Donna Douglass. Joan Collins, who was on the Harlan Ellison episode of Star Trek, is another.

No plastic surgery at that time, just natural.

As an aside... I saw on my yahoo newsfeed just now that Christie Brinkley is 60. She looks 30.

Meh, I was always more of a Miss Jane Hathaway kind of guy.

Don't forget her role in the classic Twilight Zone episode "Eye of the Beholder."

Just looked up that Twight Zone episode. I saw it in November of 1960. It was six years before the Clampetts moved to Beverly Hills.

I was six years old and had nightmares about that hospital staff for weeks. I remember begging my folks to let me sleep in their bed that night.

Rod Serling was an interesting cat. I'd like to see a documentary on him.
