I did a bunch of coke once with Gilly. Way back in the day I think it was LA or Las Vegas. Helluva nice guy.
Just read a great story about how Harrison Ford came up to GG and told him he was a fan of his work. GG shook his hand and said "thank you. And you are?"
That reminds me of an old Conan skit. He had a thing called "Celebrity Secrets" where celebrities would reveal dark things about their past. One was Harrison Ford. He said a cute little kid came up and asked for his autograph. He gladly signed it. The kid said "Thanks Mr. Hanks!". So he grabbed the paper, ripped it up, and told him Tom Hanks was dead.
Jeffery Ross did part of the eulogy and said something to the tone of “well, here we all are and once again Gilbert left us with the check.”
Kind of joke that makes you laugh and tear up at the same time.
Hope he and Robin Williams are ok and sharing some laughs wherever they are.
