Saw Meatloaf in the 90s and Steinman wasn't at the show. I was pretty disappointed based on what everyone told me because he was described as a savage performer. Well, he was one of the three I wanted to see.

Love BOOH album although, in retrospect, it's a bit overdone. Great songs, though, with clever lyrics for the most part. Certainly the peak of Meat Loaf's career as he never came close to replicating the 20+(?) million in sales for that one album. Of course, he pretty much wrecked his voice trying to sing all those songs live. RIP, JS.

Interesting trivia facts about Bat Out of Hell: produced for $35k, rejected by multiple record companies, very lightly promoted once finally released by subsidiary of Epic, MTV helped vault it onto American charts after it gained some momentum overseas. Estimated number of albums sold: ~ 50 million. I'd say that was a pretty big miss by the record industry - not quite Beatle-esque but, damn, that's a pretty big miss. The original Boston album was sort of the same story and it, too, did pretty well.
