McCain had his faults but he represented the ideal of bipartisanship (even though he was extremely conservative on most issues). Having Obama and W both perform eulogies at his funeral is very symbolic and it would be nice if people would appreciate that instead of hunkering down in their "us vs them" rhetoric.

Too many people are too reverent about this guy. I’m not saying he was evil or anything. I just don’t get the all out decorum we rarely experience anymore...other than Washington loves self adulation. Also, kudos and curiosities to all the democrats who love him more than the right wingers and republicans. I still have a hard time calling a dude who married money and stayed in office for eternity a “maverick.” But in all fairness, I pretty much hate everyone in Washington.

This may be harsh, but I really believe he’s the sole reason why American politics are what they are today due to being such a cuck to Obama in 08.

You can love Obama, but the fact is the guy is anti American goof whose every influence was men who despised America and it this country into an over sensitive, PC America where everyone was forced to walk on eggshells

The counter to it eight years later is we get the buffoonery of Trump.

So a guy that was brave, served his country, him turning into a coward against Obama in 08 set off a ridiculous chain of “cult of personalities” presidents like Obama and Trump

McCain is the reason I quit voting
Wow! I'd like to see your evidence that Obama was ever anti American or despised America... got any?
How was McCain a coward? Evidence please.

Obama, not the man himself but his election exposed a lot of deep seeded racism that still exists. Trump tapped into that racism and used it to get elected.

This is spot on. His first 70 years on this earth were superlative. His last 8-9 not so much.

He basically campaigned for his opponent in his 2008 “Run?”.

Unfortunately, at least for me, he became a huge ally for the Democrats and a total detriment to the Republicans in his last decade on earth.

All that being said, I thank him from the bottom of my heart for his military service. RIP Mr. McCain.
Because he wouldn't join in the win-at-all-cost mentality including lying about your opponent. Obviously one cannot be honorable and a Republican at the same time.
I guess you'd felt better if he had joined the birther movement and argued Obama was born in Kenya...like some other Republican did?
I posted in another thread the fact that one can easily research the archives of the Honolulu newspapers from August 1961 and see the printed the birth announcements at the Kapi'olani Maternity & Gynecological Hospital. Still, Trump and others ignoring the same evidence that every other American would produce as proof of citizenship/birthplace...their state issued birth certificate, claimed otherwise. Not because they had any better evidence but because it played to weak minds that wanted some reason to believe otherwise.

The extent of the conspiracy required to have falsified Obama's birth records would have been staggering. In August 1961 someone slipped a birth announcement for a Honolulu hospital's list of birth announcements because they knew 57 years later that child would be nominated for POTUS.

It's obvious that to you it's better to win by lying and cheating than to lose with honor. Sad.

It's almost like fuzz completely missed the point of that post and provided a great example of why it was correct.
No, I completely got the point. Don't let any darkies get elected POTUS and we won't have to rile up the racist segment of society to get back in power.

I think you confuse love and respect. McCain is receiving more "love" because he was a decent man which is becoming exceedingly rare in Washington. He didn't see divisiveness as a path to winning. His defending Obama from obviously racist attacks from the right were his downfall with right wingers and gained him respect from the left. The right wing media had played and worked hard to spread the rumors about Obama and McCain wouldn't play along. That's why they hate him.

As has been said many times before, you are an unhinged lunatic.
Repeating a lie doesn't make it any more true. You made a claim, I just asked for supporting evidence. The fact that you're unable to do so means that it doesn't exist. That doesn't make me a lunatic, it makes you a liar.

Forgetting what Democrats said about McCain when he ran for President?

So far on this page you've claimed the 62,980,160 people who voted for Trump are racist and have gone on rants about "darkies" and "birthers".

The fact that you think anyone will respond to your psychotic rants is proof positive of your unhinged lunacy.

If any leftist mocks a "birther" conspiracy while ranting about the Russian conspiracy, they're showing how little self awareness they really have.

Yeah, because Democrats accusing everyone of being racist, sexist, Hitler, spying on their campaign, creating hooker piss dossiers and paying women to make sexual assault allegations three weeks before an election is super honorable. Great stuff.

Fuzz, I've seen your social media profiles. We know you're a lunatic and a total POS. We saw you advocate for the economy to fail to stick it to Trump. Get some psychiatric help, you dumb SOB.

So lean-blue states like WI, MI and PA and swing states like OH, FL, and NC went from Obama to Trump because...racism?

As for McCain, he served this country admirably for many years, the last few (after his last re-election) he went full populist to build his legacy with the media and it worked.

Being a lifelong career politician is a far cry from "serving" your country.

Yeah because the only way anyone could possibly reject the left's platform is if they're racist and want to gas the Jews.

Agree with that, can't think of any that deserve this grandstanding we are seeing, it is clear why. I was mostly referring to his military career and work with vets.

In case you missed it, Obama is half white. Has nothing to do with race, but you Libs have nothing left except the race card.

Bingo!!! A career politician only serves himself and his donors. They don’t give a dam about the country. This one reason Trump was elected, he is NOT a slimy politician.

What does anything Democrats may have said about McCain have to do with right winger's opinions about McCain?
If those things were untrue then it is honorable that he didn't stoop to lying to justify lying.
I recall some criticisms of him with regard to his first marriage. Nobody ever claimed he was perfect.

According to Jim Crow era law, one drop of negro blood makes you a negro.
Having nothing to do with race is absolutely laughable.

The Dems love him because he's about as conservative as Bill Clinton.

On what issues was McCain anything other than "conservative"? Maybe immigration. But, he was a hardliner on defense. Fiscally conservative. Staunchly pro life. He was to the right of Trump on just about every issue you can name (except immigration I guess).

So you’re bringing up Jim Crow laws to argue with a guy that says it isn’t about race?

How bout just take him at his word, Obama was a bad President. Part of that was because the media gave him a pass on everything. They neutered themselves by claiming everyone that had an issue with him were racist.

The right disliked McCain because he loved to stick a knife in the back of Republicans especially Conservatives. It’s pretty simple. As for Democrats they praise him now because of what he liked to do to Republicans. Screw them over.

He also supported Obamacare.
