This one makes me pretty sad. Of all the country artists my dad loved, this guy was his #1. And as much as I wanted to deny my dad having an influence on my musical tastes, I'm pretty sure the reason why I like Americana music is because of my dad trying to force-feed us Merle Haggard, George Jones, Tammy Wynette, Loretta Lynn, Conway Twitty, and all the other cast of characters. RIP Mr. Haggard. If you are both where I hope you are, my dad is so very happy right now.
