It was not the first miscarriage of justice ever, but certainly one of the biggest joke verdicts I ever saw in a criminal case. Jury just basically refused to consider the evidence so far as I could tell

One juror flat out said it was revenge for Rodney King. I believe 2 jurors gave a black power salute after the verdict. The defense team did an incredible job of turning a man who couldn’t have cared less about the black community into a civil rights icon

OJ: Made in America is seriously one of the best documentaries I’ve ever seen. Does a great job of framing what Los Angeles was like leading up to the murders. As an 11 year old all I knew about OJ was the naked gun and that he was good at football.

I believe it's called "June 17, 1994", one of the best 30 for 30 episodes ever as well.

There were 2. The June 17 was about that whole day with the NBA, NHL, World Cup, and Arnold Palmer. The one I’m referring to is 4 parts all about OJ

I was a 21 YO Gen Xer at UK when that all went down. I had some very idealistic views about justice in America and was floored at the idea that someone this evil could get a pass because of race. Some might say this was a learning lesson for white people about what criminal injustice is like.

For me, I note that it was really the beginning of the still expanding (DEI) notion that race matters above all, and colorblindness didn’t. Whether some can admit it, it had a terrible impact.
