"And if the elevator tries to bring you down
Go crazy, punch a higher floor.........

..........
And when we do (When we do)
What's it all for (What's it all for)
You better live now
Before the grim reaper come knocking on your door

Tell me, are we gonna let the elevator bring us down
Oh, no let's go!"

Very eerie lyrics.

I've got some great Prince boots.

12-12-1981 New York
04-07-1985 Miami (boxes personal fave)
08-25-1986 Paris

All great bootlegs from the soundboard. Each from a different era.

08-31-1988 Hamburg

Nice, but definitely an audience boot.

Shoot me an email and I will shoot you a link when I have time to upload them: bigboxes1ATyahoo.com

I'm sure many more will be shared in the coming week. I'll be out scouring for ones I don't have.

If you can find "The Work" volumes 1-5, download them immediately. A treasure trove of unreleased Prince greatness.

I'm downloading over 20 boots right now. It seems that Prince was very active in litigating against even non-copyrighted bootlegs. Thankfully, boxes is resourceful. I see "30 Years Of Unreleased Funk" in various volumes. I'm just working on acquiring his shows right now. As I get more time I will check the unreleased stuff out as well. I'm sure that there is lots that are locked away in a vault. Hopefully, it will be released to his fans.

RIP....Prince. Thanks for the childhood memories.

Pretty sure the first time I got a little hammered as a teen, I was at a party and we watched Purple Rain. Knew it was something special, but being that young I truly didn't appreciate just how great that album was until I got older.

Don't know if true or not, but Clapton was supposedly asked "How does it feel to be the greatest living guitar player?"
And Clapton said "I don't know. Go ask Prince"

i read last night that howard stern once asked dave grohl if prince was a better musician than him, and grohl was like 'f*ck dude, prince is a better drummer than me!'

Strongly disagree on this statement, but he was a very talented guitar player and a helluva entertainer.

Was he already in poor health, because at 57, you usually have to have some other health issues to die as a result of flu complications?

People keep saying how he was the greatest guitarist of his generation, etc. No disrespect but I think people need to listen to more guitarists. It is entirely subjective, but he isn't in my top 20. Great overall talent but greatest guitarist?

I agree it is subjective because there have been so many greats (Hendrix, Beck, King, Van Halen, Santana, Vaughn, Clapton. Page, Slash, Berry, etc, etc). However, being completely objective (and I admittedly was not much of a Prince fan Post Purple Rain), the man belongs in the conversation.

Prince was known for much more than just a guitarist which probably keeps him off some.people's greatest guitarist lists.

No Jack White or Alex Lifeson? For shame.

At least you put James Marshall first. ;)

Let's add Blackmore, Satriani and Malmsteen to that list. However, I don't see getting into a pissing match about this on what is supposed to be a tribute thread. We can agree that the man was an incredibly talented musician/songwriter/performer, covered a wide array of genres (genre-bending as some would say) and touched many people. Prince is not in my top ten on any list, but I loved the man and his music. He will be sorely missed.

Last Thursday night in Downtown Minneapolis was something special where several thousand people gathered for the 89.3 Current Prince block party. All the network crews were out in the cornfields of Chanhassen watching suburbanites walking around with their dogs in their sweatpants. They should have been down here.

This was 7th and 1st Avenue in Minneapolis, not Brooklyn!

Not to mention Jazz musicians... Stanley Jordan is the best guitarist I've ever seen but it is a different style.

Took few pics at Paisley Park over the weekend, just a couple miles up the road from our house.
