First concert I attended was the Cars shortly after their debut album went big on the charts. RIP Ric.
Although I liked me some Cars their concert was terrible .. RIP Ric and how did you ever get Paulina?
A buddy of mine was on vacation with his family in the 80's. Some island in the Caribbean (I don't remember which). The last leg of travel to the island was on a small plane that only had room for about 12 passengers. Ric and Paulina were on the plane with them. He claimed that Paulina was walking around topless on one of the beaches throughout the trip. I was very envious of his vacation.
My band covered Just What I Needed at a gig just the day before. Really sad news.
And they knew they weren’t and never cared. One of the seminal bands of my youth.
OK, I'm going to come clean with you guys.
I kind of lied.
All my life, I thought that my first concert was The Cars. However, a few months ago, my older sister informed me that I was mistaken. Apparently, my dad took she and me to a concert when I was young enough not to remember. I hate to admit it, but it seems that my first concert was Donnie and Marie.
My first was Elvis Presley at the Mabee Center with my parents.
You win. It's like a Pop Warner team v. the Patriots.

My first concert was Don Williams at the Lazy E Arena. Don't remember much, aside from going deaf when Tulsa Time was played.
With the Cars, I always liked their studio albums, but always heard their concerts were underwhelming. Guess that was confirmed in this thread.
So I saw them at the LNC in Norman late 80's. Honestly I wasn't enough of a music snob to know what was good or what was bad--it was OK I guess, but went with my older sister who'd won free tickets on the radio.....so the whole thing was kinda meh. They weren't terrible, but I might think so today.
March 1, 1974. I looked it up. It was the first show of his tour that year. My mother died a little over a month later.
I remember my folks going to see him sometime in 1977. It wasn't long before he passed away. Sorry, "allegedly" passed away.
The Cars was almost my first concert. Saw them, believe it or not, in the Civic Center in OKC in August of 1979. First "indoor" concert was Jackson Brown in Norman in January 1978.
My first concert was a Willie Nelson 4th of July Picnic (actually on July 3, 1977) in Tulsa. Willie; Waylon Jennings & Jessica Coulter, Asleep at the Wheel, Jerry Jeff Walker, Leon Russell. Lynyrd Skynyrd. Which I had been smart enough (and sober enough) to appreciate the opportunity to see all those groups at one time.
