Anyone like me in their mid-60's should remember the great horse Secretariat and his amazing triple crown run in 1973 setting records that still stand today at all three triple crown races. The jockey of this magnificent, magical, horse Ron Turcotte passed away today. I will never forget watching the 1973 Belmont with my dad, just the two of us, witnessing history on an unimaginable scale that June day in 1973. RIP Mr. Turcotte. the image of you taking a peak behind you as Secretariat blazed over 30 lengths in front of the field heading to the finish will live forever. One of the greatest sports moments in history.

I watched that, I remember standing up and screaming at the tv because he was so far ahead! It was unbelievable! How could he outpace the field like that?
