I didn’t really know of him, so when I clicked the link and saw that he won the 73 Open I thought, “damn, that guy was young.” Then I realized that was 49 years ago: Time is flying. RIP

Took a 13 in 1980 Masters on #12. That alone should put him alongside Tin Cup's 12 in the US Open as most memorable hole in major championship golf.

Think he was standing on 16 tee final round at Augusta in ‘75 when Jack drained that huge birdie putt from across the green.

Yep. Still my favorite steaks I’ve ever had (I ain’t got Tony’s/Ruby’s money) Was such a cool place on Winchester Road. That stretch of the road is super seedy(er) now.
Yes it is. I take my daughter to Lexington twice a month for Golf lessons and drive by that area often. Usually end up in Chevy Chase and think about good times at the Fireplace. Circa 1965-1966

That was one of my favorite places to eat also. Lived in Greenbrier back in those days and drove by it twice a day on my way to work. I've often wondered why some developer didn't buy a streach of that and build office space as it overlooks downtown.

Who were you taking her to work with? Gordo?

Tom Weiskopf has one of the coolest and most powerful swings of all time. He would’ve had a lotta fun in todays PGA.
