Rewind to Round 1 of 2014 7A Playoffs when LWN hosted WWS. North gets a 1st down deep in WWS territory with a 7-point lead and the Tigers with at most 1 time-out plus little time on clock to run out. Instead of taking a knee a couple times, a hand-off is attempted to a sub RB. Fumble to WWS, they go down the field to tie the score and win in OT. S**t happens. This game was the tale of two coaches.
PC had the ball on the SR goal line. SR had no more time outs. Instead of taking a knee for the remainder of the game to run the clock out they for some unknown reason the PC coach decided that they need an unnecessary score. But PC turns the ball over and SR goes from their goal down the field with no timeouts to kick a field goal to tie the game.
In OT PC scores and SR matches it on a great catch on 4th down. But instead of kicking the extra point SR goes for two for the win.
For the life of me I can not understand why PC did not run their exceptional RB more during the game. That could have been a game changer. PC has the horses I think to run the heck out of the ball.
SR was out of sync the first half. Two turnovers after marching down the field. Thrown balls to empty parts of the field. Second half much better in their execution. SR could have put up a couple more scores.
Second half especially the fourth quarter PC’s defense looked gassed. SR's no huddle hurry up offense looked like it wore out PC. Thus the two point conversion in OT.
Forgot a lb. so maybe I'm overly optimistic.2 on the offensive line, 2 on the d line and one corner. So I guess more like 70-75?
Technically the offense hasn't changed though. Maybe new alignments and going to predominate pistol but the plays have pretty much been the same offensively since the new OC came in 14.You also have to remember Celticnation, that they also asked these same boys to learn and run a different offense and defense. Our boys were very successful in the system they learned before, it will just take time for them to be just as good in this new system.
My point was that these collection of kids have won close games and shown they can win in the Blue. Knowing how to win is a big factor in close games. I was just pointing out that it was out of the kids hands with some of the decisions made. Hats off to SR for getting it done!Wasn't this just a case of a bad call at a bad time? Has nothing to do with the players on the field, what class they are in, how many CCL titles they won as underclassmen...bad call at a bad time. Period.
Different playbook from the lower classes, or so I've been told.Technically the offense hasn't changed though. Maybe new alignments and going to predominate pistol but the plays have pretty much been the same offensively since the new OC came in 14.
