So, somehow it was lost on me that Kentucky and Louisville will both have new head coaches next season. Are there any other instances of rivals both getting a new head coach?

Interestingly enough, this isn’t the first time that it has happened for UK and UofL. In 2010, both schools hired new football coaches in Joker Phillips and Charlie Strong. Similar situation too with UK’s previous coaches stepping down from their positions (Brooks retiring, Cal leaving to take the Arky job) and UofL firing their previous coaches (Kragthorpe and Payne).

Scheyer June 4th and Davis April 5th according to the Google. I guess that’s when Scheyer was named head coach in waiting before K officially retired though.

Schyer and Davis were close, can’t remember if it was the same year or not.
