Any chance this game lives up to the one last year? These are still the two best 2A teams in the area.

Also, wasn't it played at Draft last year? Why is it there again this year? The Red team is getting hosed out of a home game.

Yes it was at Draft last year and I don't think it will be quite as good as last years game. The Red team has a few road games that are against quality opponents this year so they will be tested if they survive them all.

They aren't getting hosed out of anything, new cycle so you can have back to back same places. The game will be at Riverheads next year.

Also Riverheads is 1a not 2a, so they aren't the two best 2a teams in area.

I hope for a great game, good weather, no injuries on either side, and a MAROON win

Looking at the schedules for the Augusta County teams in the Shenandoah District it looks like Riverheads is the ONLY team playing away against all county opponents and then also playing at Lee.
That's a tough schedule for this year. Will make for a great schedule next year for those guys.

Riverheads' schedule is indeed odd for this new two-year cycle. They only have to make one road trip out of the county and that is not until the next-to-last game of the season when they play Central Woodstock in a non-district game. Their district road games are at SD, Lee, BG, and Wilson, which means they host Stonewall, Page, Luray and East Rock.

This will mean less than capacity crowds for most of the home games, even though the Luray and East Rock games are shaping up to be good ones with possible bearings on the district title. Then considering how well the Gladiators travel, the above host schools will benefit from better-than-average gates.

When next year rolls around, everything will be reversed and the Gladiators will get to host those same four neighboring schools (along with Central) so the home games will be awesome, bu we will have to travel more than the average amount for a regular season. Of course it will inevitable that this time next year, someone will forget all about this year and cry the blues because the Gladiators are getting to host all their county rivals.
