One of the best anecdotes about Reiner as a filmmaker was telling Billy Crystal to "forget the script" while filming TPB.

Those infamous words led to 3 days of Crystal ad libbing where Reiner was kicked off his own set for laughing too hard/loud.

30 hours of film used for what resulted in a memorable 5 minute bit part (don't think the studio was too happy at the time, but Rob probably got away with it since Norman Lear's company was producing the film).

Rob was also one of the founders of Castle Rock Entertainment and due to Stand By Me being King's favorite (at that time) adaptation (one change in the film, King wished he had done), Castle Rock got first dibs on King's works which led to The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, etc.

Castle Rock also produced a little known TV series by the name of Seinfeld.

Mental health is no joke. Nothing prepares you for it. The most horrible perfect storm of shame, love, hate, hope, and fear wrapped up in a single person. And yet, someone with all of the money in the world couldn’t cure it or completely prevent it from getting out of control. What chance do the poors stand? Or perhaps money was the real problem, some ghetto kid would have been found dead on the street or would have been locked away years ago without involved parents, big money lawyers, and judges to look the other way for the 300th time. Who knows what the answer is.

Read an article years ago about one of the school shooters, believe it was Sandy Hook. It's clear from mom's writings years before the shooting that this kid was and had been for most of his life a tiger that she just kept trying to metaphorically keep locked up in the backyard for his and everyone else's safety. Ultimately, the tiger got out. Seems to have happened to the Reiners too. Suddenly arguing with my kid to take a shower doesn't seem like such a big deal.
