National analyst also talks about Landon Young’s possibility for a 5th star and Drake Jackson’s transition to center http://bit.ly/1RMcq9M

Kash Daniel, Drake Jackson and Landon Young were mighty impressive.

Steve Wiltfong was one of several analysts in San Antonio for Army Bowl week, and he said UK’s trio of in-state commitments validated their lofty status in the 247 national rankings.

“He’s the best prospect in the group,” he said. “He has great length and athleticism. He’s your prototype when you’re describing left tackle prospects.”

We haven't had too many "prototypical left tackle prospects." Very good to read that. Interesting to me that Young was the lowest rated of the three (Kash #98, Jackson #75 and Young #102), yet he's the one being mentioned as possibly getting a 5th star - which, per the story, implies he's one of the top 32 players in the country. From 102 to 32 - that's a good week.

Also said we've had two 5 star recruits - Micah Johnson and Elam. I've heard a few people say Young would be our first 5 star, should he make it......

I feel really good about our O-line going forward. If they live up to their rankings and get the coaching they need look out!

Micah was not a 5 star. I remember Coach Brooks commenting about "if that kid is not a 5 star I am not sure what a 5 star is." I remember talking with their dad at the Music City bowl before the game, and I asked him who got to referee and break up the battles at home between Micah and Christian(who was 330lbs. He told me nobody and just hoped nothing got broken:)

Not only should Young be a five star! Daniel and Davonte Robinson are 4 Stars! This is by far the VERY BEST class a UK football team has recruited! Will end up in top 20! And actually better on paper!

Bobby Blizzard, Dennis Johnson and Tim Couch were all pre-star ranking era players but would all very likely been fives IMO.

Here's what the story says:

"In the era of star rankings, only two UK signees have earned five: Micah Johnson (from Scout.com and ESPN in 2006) and Matt Elam (from 247Sports in 2014)."

So Micah was evidently a 5 star, just not by Rivals......

Good catch. I was only going by Rivals rankings since that is the main one everyone uses here. Thank you for the update.
