So we bought a home with a very good sized gunite pool with a pool cover. The original owner of the home was suppose to leave a pool robot they had, but it was taken. The thought with the pool cover being built in was that it would reduce the amount of debri that gets in the pool as we can open and close the pool using just a switch, and it does great job for the most part. With that said, we still get small leaves, dead bugs, and other stuff at the bottom of the pool.

Instead of taking a couple of hours properly cleaning it with different nets, i've started looking at just buying a new pool robot. I've kind of found myself liking the Dolphin brand that all you have to do is give it power and it runs with its own built in filter and waste basket versus having to also hook up a hose to the skimmer hole like other robots for what is collected.

Is there anyone here in The Paddock with some pool robot knowledge that can give me some ideas on what you have and what you like/dislike about your pool robot?

I'm new to pool maintenance myself, but there is a consensus among everyone I've asked that Dolphin cleaners are the only way to go. Purchased one a couple of weeks ago for the property I'm doing.

Dolphin Nautilus is what we have had for about 5 years. Drop it in and come back in 2 hours. Mine has a cord but I know there are some on the market that are without cords. Well worth it.

Look OP, pool robots are fine and all until they become self-aware. One day it'll start asking you the hard questions, and your answers won't satisfy it. Then your family will wake up to find you dead in the bottom of the pool under mysterious circumstances. And that's just the beginning. BTW, don't believe @80 Proof, he's obviously a shill for his pool robot overlords.

We have a Polaris 920 and have had it for about 4 years now. Does have a cord but have no issues with the unit and it works fantastic. Have had 2 Polaris units and have been satisfied w/ both. Not used the Dolphin so can't compare and contrast the two.

Only issue I have is that our pool only has debri in the bottom where the jets spray into the pool. So we have a dolphin but never use it as it takes 15-20 minutes per day to hit those few spots and maybe one or two other spots daily with 1 big vacuum a week on sundays.

We did use the dolphin a ton when we opened the pool to get it going but now it’s just as much hassle as it is to just hook up the vacuum real quick.

My neighbor has one of those. She hasn't had any problems in the two years she's had it. Seems to do a decent job.

I too have the Dolphin Nautilus. Easy to use and cuts down on the maintenance time. We have a lot of trees in our neighborhood so we're constantly battling leaves. Does fine keeping larger debris from pool. I still manually vacuum mine a couple of times a month.

Huber, got the dolphin myself and it does great. My pool is gunite also. Call me if you have any questions. JB

3rd summer with a dolphin nautilus CC Plus. Works great. No issues at all so far.
