Why does a genre from the 50's need to exist now? Rock has evolved and there are like 60 subgenres of it. Kids don't want to play the music their parents liked..
The music died in late 1977, about the time the Saturday Night Fever craze hit. The decent rock bands after that are few and far between.
The problem I see with these four is that they don't have a frontman with the vocal talent or the charisma to ever attain "rock star" status. You obviously just don’t realize Rock today has progressed into a new form and it’s some of the best ever.
Hair bands from the 80’s, generic bands like stone sour ect are not where it’s at anymore.
Silverstein
OLN
Amity Affliction
The Plot
Just to name a few. There’s many more.

I checked out the 4 above on YouTube. Meh. Can't say, from the very little sample I listened to, any of the four have 'it' where they'll find a huge audience, like a U2, Stones, Oasis, Zeppelin, Van Halen, etc. Not that they're bad, by any means, just didn't hear that indefinable 'something' that grabs you (at they didn't grab me. Different strokes). Perhaps it's a lack of hooks in their music, I don't know. There are just some songs/groups that the minute you hear them, there's a riff or a rhythm that sticks in your head. Didn't hear any of that from the above. I agree that there is a lot of good music to be found. It does require effort and persistence, which most people don't possess when it comes to music.
The best Rock today is alternative metal of sorts and it takes tome to hear it. And it must be louder than the laptop. This kind of music requires listening at a high level.
Check out our last night’s cover songs. They really know how to put it on.
I added Silverstein just because they’re my favorite all time. Not really what’s out now. My bad.
I’d like to know which songs you listened to but here’s some I like.
OLN covers
Bad Omen
These are just a few but like I said if you’re not used to the sound it takes a little while for some. But once it clicks you won’t stop playing it if you’re below 40 and like it a little heavy. OLN covers are where it’s at, not their original sht.
I respect the old stuff but rock was just too generic. People actually like Stone Sour still? Eh, mainstreamed. I like it different and most rockers today around my age prefer this. Try listening toward the end to hear it better. That’s what I’ve told people who have trouble. For some reason it works.
