So, he had another year of eligibility? If so, heck, yeah, I think he would have made more than the league minimum had he stuck around for another year at Carolina. This is the scenario we were discussing in another thread - where the "new normal of NIL" means that undrafted free agents and players drafted in the later rounds would almost certainly make more money staying on as a star player at a P4 school than entering the draft that year. Heck, even under the "old normal" a player shouldn't leave early to go undrafted.

I thought he had another year. I can't keep up with these guys getting six seasons with covid. The Louisville qb that got drafted will be 26 this year. He ended like 3 seasons with injuries so got multiple medical redshirts and a covid year so played like 7 seasons-ridiculous.

His freshman year was 2021, the extra covid year was granted to players who competed in the 2020 year, I believe he was out of eligibility, last year was his fourth but could be wrong and with so many guys getting seemingly getting 6 years it is strange to see someone is done in 4 who has been around a while.

Maybe the lesson here is, don't be so concerned with getting an injury again, that you skip the bowl game, you may just elevate the NFL's concerns.

One of the problems is that RBs are not seen anywhere near as important in the draft as they once were. Few last more than 4-5 years anymore, and with the pass-happy offenses these days, any number of decent RBs can support a team. Of course there are exceptions, but the days of Barry Sanders/Walter Payton/Emmit Smith are long gone.

So... that doesn't help a guy who was decent in college but was not dominant (like Jeanty).

Any player that enters the draft with a year or more of eligibility remaining and doesn’t get drafted after the 5th round should be allowed to return to college. Not sure why the NCAA allows the NFL to dictate what they can and cannot do.

Agree. In the past it was like "You took money. You're gone." He took money to come here.

I should clarify I held no ill will against Rocket for skipping the bowl game though we could have used him no doubt. The guy had battled thru some injuries in college. I wish him well.
