Wow...Hugh Freeze has such a great pedigree of getting Dline to the NFL.

Geez Rogers...at least pick a decent defensive coach to be bought by o_O
True, has to be about the $$ for this player...sure isn't about building a NFL resume. Look at what Q/McCall have done before him and Freeze has produced what??

Does anyone know of any reporting outlet that gives what each player is making under the NIL agreements?

Just Auburn being Auburn. When Freeze was hired I commented: "Most punished SEC program hiring a known cheater....what could possibly go wrong?"

All true, Roger's is a decent SEC player, but I don't think anyone here would call him dominant. Readind their board you would think he was a 3 time 1st team AA and 2 time Outland winner. They are claiming Bama and LSU were hard after him. Maybe they were.

Right, nice player but not what they're blowing him up to be. I think he did visit LSU/Miami and surprised he didn't end up at LSU....tells me they were no more interested in a bidding war than was UK.

Best of luck to him.

He was a 5* recruit and was here 3 yrs, I'm sure he thought he would be leaving after that. Problem was the NFL gave him a return to achool/updrafted evaluation grade.

So instead of staying at UK and getting little to no NIL money and still limited NFL prospects next yr, he put his name out and had serious football programs bidding for him.

JMI is limiting UK, but they ain't shutting it down completely. UK fans have to open up their wallets, period. If lots of us just do a little, we can keep our roster together. If we don't, this will become common, our starters leaving for serious football programs.

Hope he enjoys playing for a slimeball like Freeze. I wouldn't believe anything he says. Go ask his wife and Ole Miss players about that. Wouldn't believe anything Freeze says unless its in writing and notarized

I guess I’m lost on what JMI is at fault

We probably didn’t have the kitty up to lay Rogers the cash he wanted. So who is to say if JMI were not in the mix UK would suddenly have auburn funds? For all Matt jones know it could be yella wood booster put 15M in an account and would UK have that kind of booster if it comes to it?

This stinks and ncaa has no ability nor power to change it. When this starts happening to our elite players..//I’ll be out. There is no point to be a UK if you develop kids for once they pan out to be pilfered for top teams. That is sort of what a AAA farm team for baseball franchises…not college football

Free agency at it's finest. Any semblance of parity in college football, what little there was, will soon be over. It will be a purely have vs have nots playing field.

From what I can tell, it's far worse than the NFL. At least in the NFL, there are actual contracts, a salary cap, tampering rules, and some other things that at least attempt to bring some level of sanity to the situation. None that seems to be present with college football (or basketball).

I don't know if LSU is in the buying players race or not, but Miami and AU certainly are, and a few more. We have had 2-3 enter today too, one is a grad transfer TE who got some mop up snaps a a frosh former 5* CB. Thought he would but was hoping he would stick it out, but he was behind 2 other frosh. We have had 3 Jr announce for the draft, Carter the DL, Ringo the CB and Washington a TE. No surprises with those 3, could have 3 more on the OL, or none there they are deciding. Only a handful more of underclassmen eligible and some of those have said they were returning.

I really like your backup QB and freshman RB. The RB, if he can stay healthy, will be a superstar.

Beck, the QB, has looked good in his few chances to throw. I got to be honest, the frosh RB surprised me, he had ran timid until the NC game, nothing timid about him then, looked like he was working on getting his share of carries in 23.

A CBA would fix those legit issues

Coach Stewart slammed him pretty hard in an interview posted in another thread.

Yes, I mentioned in another thread that the only hope is some sort of collective bargaining agreement with players but since there is no centralized "grouping" of players, that may be really difficult.

With all due respect, if thats what it takes and thats where its headed, then I'll have to let it go. I'm just not interested in in helping turn the sport I loved into professional football league that has little to nothing to do with the Universisty of Kentucky. I understand it may be what has to happen to keep up, I'm just saying at that point its not the sport Ioved anymore anyway.

That’s disappointing. I could stomach losing him to LSU, Bama, Michigan….but Auburn? I’d like to know exactly how much more $ he’ll be making there. Hard for me to imagine we couldn’t get done donor to match it.

It's a little disappointing, but if he really wanted to stay, he would have. Anyone can say it's just NIL, but the truth is that going to the highest bidder is not really NIL. If he's not working hard enough or doesn't have the talent/upside to make the impact that D1 made this fall as a true freshman, he SHOULD get as much money as he can now, because he won't play at the next level.

If this is the case, I'm glad our staff didn't seek anyone out to match the offer. I'm appreciative for him choosing UK and putting in some work here, but we need to keep signing recruits that want to go take it from the guy in front of them rather than have it be handed to them.

Lifetime supply of Yellawood. He can build himself a Flintstones ride if the Bentley doesn't pan out.

Auburn has all this NIL money but their QB room is a clown car and they lost Devin Leary, by far their best option at QB to UK. Seems we really are being left behind like everyone said. Congrats on signing the nose guard who spent his career getting washed until his last 5 games when he finally showed up.

Leary knows a con man when he meets one. Rodgers & Co.? Apparently, not so much. I still find it hysterical that Freeze was rehabilitated at Liberty. I wonder if he and the disturbingly loyal wife had any swap parties with the Falwells?

If Calipari can raise 30m to build an unneeded practice facility , put that into the NIL.
