I think pods could work in the 1-A bracket only because they are so spread out everywhere. A team (North Duplin) that is almost an hour east of I-95 is a 1 seed in a western bracket. I think this is a HUGE disadvantage for teams playing ND. Props to the Rebels for winning 7 games and making plays when they had to, but it seems that ND falls on the west brackets all the time.

North Duplin has had its share of long travels to the west and hope we stay in playoffs to travel west this year. If the games are competitive traveling can be fun, but when it high seed vs low seed and a 5 hr travel, can't help but guestion what else could it be done.

North Duplin has been pushed to the West bracket numerous times in the past and they have had to make the long trek sometimes in back to back weeks. Not many years ago North Duplin defeated Lakewood for the Western Championship.

Im rooting for cherokee the rest of the way(after alleghany is eliminated probably this friday lol). I really think they got a good shot. I watched playoff basketball game when yall came to albemarle 2 years ago when yall lost by 1pt, and yall had the best fans(most passionate) i'd ever seen at a game. Wish my alleghany fellow fans had half the spunk cherokee fans have, you can hear more noise at a library than in the stands at our games sometimes. Its pathetic.

Cherokee fans are legendary as they've always supported their teams thru the years....One thing that you can count on is that Cherokee fans will show up especially if they have a good team...

As for the Tigers game against North Duplin, the Tigers were shutout(14-0) the last time that they made the trip down east to face the Rebels in the 2nd round of the 2006 playoffs....North Duplin also shutout Top-seeded Cherokee 13-0 in the 3rd round that year in Cherokee before losing(21-6) to eventual state champ Elkin in the Western 1A final....As mentioned above, the Rebels advanced all the way to the 1A championship game in 2007, losing to Plymouth 20-13 in the finale....

As for the game this friday, sounds like the Rebels and Tigers are somewhat similar in the fact that both teams want to control the ball....Tigers have had a tough injury-filled season while going through some serious growing-pains with a young team, and I don't know if they have everybody back or not, but it will be a challenge, and the Tigers will have to play the best game they have all year to keep it close....

Just wanted to say congratulations to the Rebels on their hard fought 21-7 win over the Tigers last night....I unfortunately was unable to make the game with hip surgery on the horizon, and scheduled in a couple weeks from now, but was grateful that the game was on the radio....Still unsure what the flag was that wiped out a Tiger TD in the 2nd half, which turned out to be a big play in the game, but was proud to hear that the team put up as good a fight as they had all season long, coming up a little short after a 350 mile one-way journey from Southwestern Transylvania County to Calypso....

Even though this year finished with a dismal 2-10 record, it's inspiring to know that the team filled with youngsters hung in there and fought to the very end, and that is encouraging moving forward....Good luck to the Tiger Seniors whose dedication to the football program was paramount this year, and good luck with your future endeavors...Now, is the time for those returning next season to hit the weight room, and prepare to contest and contend in 2017!

Good luck to the Rebels, and hope the young man that was reportedly hurt last night will be OK, and have no lasting affects....
