Has anybody noticed Dukes roster.
I don't see any true PG's or OG's for the starters. Looks more like a lot of swing players, SF, PF, of course this takes talent, couple need to be able to handle & dish the ball.

I think if you can get the quick tall ones it gives you a big advantage. Don't most of their O go through Flagg?

Times could be changing again. I know Flagg is a bit of a freak and about a one in a decade type of player.

Flagg might be the best college player since AD in 2012; what Duke can do probably doesn't apply to teams that don't have a Cooper Flagg. That being said Pope has shown that his offense can work fine with a wing running the point. But you still have to have someone who can guard the other team's point guard.

Cal tried that “positionless basketball” nonsense here for years and we usually ended up with long, athletic, tall athletes at every position who couldn’t shoot a lick.

I feel like that approach could be pretty potent if your athletes are also skilled shooters.

Right you got to make baskets.
And we all know Cal is not a X&O's guy.

Cal always talked about it but never really executed effectively bc his idea of “positionless” was exactly as you said…a bunch of true 4s and 5s and then a non shooting PG….maybe 1 actual shooter in the floor at anytime.

Bama, UF this season (and Houston to an extent) is what positionless really looks like.

May have a legit PG but 2-5 are all long, athletic, and are varying levels of triple threats (shoot, pass, dribble). Nobody that can only play a singular position, athlete only that lacks balanced skill

Yep.

Also, despite a lot of legit star power he admittedly did bring in, especially in ‘10, ‘15, and ‘17, Cal brought in a ship ton of guys who were highly ranked and often athletic but couldn’t play basketball to save their lives. Especially those lanky 3/4 types that he liked to call positionless. I’m not at all convinced that someone couldn’t win with mostly wings if he could actually coach and they could actually play.
