Looks like we just got a flip from a 3 star DE from Florida. Isn't the most highly rated, but any pipeline into Florida will help IMO.

Here is Coach Stoops take on recruiting via a Q&A today. No mention of more WRs and the class number appears to be in the low 20's range.

Q. What are you still focused on in recruiting?

MARK STOOPS: We've always got to hold everybody we have, number one. That's always an issue, and nobody's going to stop recruiting. So we'll continue to try to hold everybody we have committed and continue to get some other positions. I think we need offensive linemen still, D-linemen, like to get a couple DBs and linebackers. We recruit so many guys, as you know. We'll end up recruiting a bunch. We're not going to -- we're going to keep on trying to get them in the boat.

Q. What is the number?

MARK STOOPS: It will be between 20 and 20 and up, yeah. Not up to 25. I don't think we have that kind of room.

I haven't seen a name mentioned anywhere, but is there a 4* or better Punter in the US that UK may be able to recruit??? I believe this position & its inherit weakness, is what will prevent UK from being truly special next year!!!

I remember hearing about a walk on punter who has pretty good size competing last spring. You never know as punters seem to spring up from everywhere.

Three of our top remaining recruiting targets (Bowden, Davis and Munford) hail from Ohio. Luckily for us OSU is having a banner recruiting year and doesn't appear to have rides for any of our targets except maybe Munford. Even he appears to be a second option for one of their 5 remaining open spots. I like our chances of getting all three.

The staff has taken a step toward that goal with Johnson Central All-State kicker Tyler Pack’s decision to walk-on at Kentucky. Pack set state records for longest punt (89 yards) and longest field goal (60 yards) during his high school career. The commitment was first reported by The Cats' Pause.

“Some college is going to get a great kicker,” Johnson Central coach Jim Matney told The Courier-Journal when Pack was named first-team All-State. “The biggest thing about him is that he didn’t start kicking until his sophomore year because he was a soccer guy. He has the power of an American-style kicker, but he kicks soccer style.”

Supposedly we have a really good freshman punter that didn't play for some reason this year.

I'm sure Coach Stoops and staff know exactly what they need to recruit. It appears our recruiting is going really good. I think we are probably two or three classes away from competing consistently neither the Bamas,OSU, etc., but were getting there.

Dont really look into the ratings - Benny Snell was a 3 star - name another back you would like to have than him - Mariota was a 2 star and now is a star in the NFL- Khalil Mack went to Buffalo and was 1 star - he is probably the best Defensive player in the NFL- doesnt matter if u are a 4 or 5 star doesnt equal success at the college level -what I like are the athletes we are recruiting

Yes but overall recruiting rankings are usually pretty accurate. Alabama has had the #1 class for like the last 5 years. Well they are now going for their 5th Title in 8 years. OSU, USC, LSU, Georgia, Michigan, FSU, etc usually dominate the recruiting rankings and these teams are usually mainstays in the top 20 every year. No coincidence. Over the last 4 years we've recruited Top 35 classes. I would argue we are one of the Top 35 teams in college football today. It's not an exact science but it's usually a pretty good predictor.

Where are the DTs?

WE CANNOT WIN WITHOUT DTs!!!!!
Quinton Bohanna is a defensive tackle. Phil Hoskins has been projected for Courtney Miggins' position but some people believe he will fill out and play tackle. Chris Whittaker already weighs 260 pounds on a perfect tackle frame. After a redshirt, Whittaker will weigh close to 290 and probably be developed as a tackle. Stoops is still recruiting interior defensive linemen, and will probably take 1 more.

Both of our Soph CBs were last minute additions - Westry (5.6) and Baity (5.5) 3 star recruits. And LB Allen (5.5) was a 3 star, while 2nd team, All-SEC LB Jones (5.7) was also a 3 star.
