Seeing Roy and K struggle with illnesses this year makes me respect these guys a lot more to continue fight through older age and any medical issues to coach their teams. They really love what they do and its a grueling profession.

Get better Roy, you are one fine coach & an asset to the rivalry!

Robinson will need to go on crash diet if Roy sits out a few. He sure was having a hard time getting off the seat last night.

This post should have nothing to do with past games, future games, or rivalries. It has to do with reality and should put things into perspective. A persons health is no joking matter, and I really hope the best for Roy Williams, he certainly does not deserve this.
I gave absolutely no thought to anything said from THR about "K", it only shows the ignorance of a few people, and I would certainly hope nobody on this site would stoop that low.
Hope for a speedy recovery for Coach Williams.
Go Duke!!

Heel fan here.

I appreciate the nice thoughts you all had regarding Roy and his recent bout of vertigo. Classy showing

Speaking for myself, I really hoped Coach K was okay from his apparent bout of elevated blood pressure. Certainly we're not perfect but my wish is that Heel and Blue Devil fans can compete hard but always treat each other in a classy way on the court and in chat rooms. That will be a point of emphasis for my own conduct.

Aren't we glad we are Duke fans. No sane fan of any program should make light of injuries to opposition players or an illness of a coach EVER. dukiejay I don't feel any of us are patting ourselves on the back in this situation although I do understand the point you are trying to make. THR especially feel they are entitled and that is just a shame. The way they raked Coach K over the coals for missing the G.T. game is ridicules and their mods should deleted the thread if they had any integrity at all and I'm calling them all out. Mike Irby should especially understand this with his illness which we are support him in getting well. I have no idea if any of them will read this thread or this post but I guarantee you if they do they will find a way in their arrogant and ignorant state of minds to undermine it and twist it around. Just about every one of them have the maturity of a 12 year old. And by the way they still managed to whine about the officiating up until the end. They should have beaten BC by 30 points even if the ref were paid off. The most talented team in the country and the most underachieving team. But they are Tar Heel fans. They can't help it. It's their nature and I'm tired of blessing their hearts because they don't deserve it. I really despise their fans. I really don't want to see them score another point in any sport ever again and it's not their players or coaches it's their arrogant and ignorant fan base. One of their fans made a quote that there is a fan over here that is obsesses with UNC. Let me set this straight right now that I am not obsessed with UNC I am however obsessed with wanting to see them lose in everything and always will be. By the way. Vertigo is a serious thing. I have an aunt who suffers from it and seldom leaves her house. Proud none of us here is making light of HOF Coach Roy Williams. OFC.

Perhaps we need to disregard the term classy and just use common decency and concern for all our fellow man. OFC

Excellent post and 100% agree with your sentiment. You should post here more often.

PS: You a UT fan?

I went years without feeling this way but unfortunately the THR people have said enough bad about K and our players being thugs and douchbags that I really hope most of them get shingles and Irritable bowel syndrome at the same time. By most, its the usual Duke haters and we all know who they are. Thats the ones I really cannot stand and wish them nothing but the worst.

Now Heelvol sounds like a sensible person.

I'm sorry, but nobody here stooped so low as to mock Roy's health or to imply it was some kind of a ploy. Simply pointing out that it's common practice for a large portion of the unc fan base to do exactly that when coach K is involved does not equate to a lack of class. I would like to think that everyone here wishes well for the health of our fellow men, friend or foe. But let's not go too far with judging people who acknowledge the elephant in the room.

It is amazing that K and Roy are able to continue performing a high level considering their age.Coaching is a young man's game taking a tremendous amount of energy. Both of them imo are year to year.Hope I am wrong esp in K s case but we should really appreciate what we habe

It is amazing that the fans of a school with systematic academic fraud would revel in someone elses poor health. The way they talk about K is horrendous. Not one person here would ever say something about another humans health issue. The entire UNC "family', from the university, administrators, alums and fans are without a doubt the most inbred imbeciles on the planet. They continuously throw stones despite the fact that they have one of the worse scandals in NCAA history hanging over their heads. F em all.

Well said.

Grew up in Tennessee, teenager (which shaped my sports allegiances to this day) during the years when UT football was king in the state's sports world. And that's also when I saw Worthy, Jordan, Dean Smith beating Ewing. Became a Heels hoops fan ever since. I respect K and the program for sure. Have my bouts of "hatred" towards the blue devils (at least twice a year :) ). But now that I'm middle aged fan, I see the big picture. Glad K and Roy get to keep coaching against each other but it looks like the end is coming (its year to year). Hope they both get to enjoy some years of leisure on the golf course (for Roy) and K (I don't know what hobbies he has...but at least spend time with grandkids). I personally think when (not if) team USA wins gold this summer, K might want to do the Elway and leave while on top. 5 rings, Olympic golds, most wins as head coach, turned Duke into a blue blood by himself, nothing left to build up his legacy.

Good stuff. As a Tennessee native, I was raised on UT football. Really hope the Vols can live up to their considerable hype next season.

Don't even suggest something like that.

I think 3 or 4 more rings would build up his legacy even more, don't you think??

Originally from middle TN. I was at the home game against Arkansas this year. Glad we turned things around after that one. Praying that we stick it to Florida and Bama in Neyland this fall. We're beyond due to beat both.

Absolutely it would but its just hard to imagine any coach (and K is not just "any coach"), in this competitive environment, where there's so much talent and so many opportunities to be the man and go pro, for one team to dominate like UCLA/Wooden did. But back then, I've heard sports media say UCLA had ways to get talent to Westwood and Wooden just turned a blind eye. The talent disparity was overwhelming. Wooden's a great coach and teacher but let's be honest, he had many hall of fame players (NBA and college) who went four years there.

Next year, you guys will be strong contenders for #6 along with UK. just depends on the freshman. Man, I hate it you guys got Giles!

This is the year for Bama to take a break from being #1.

Now back to hoops...

Hopefully it's just another bout of vertigo for Coach Williams but it's no laughing matter none the less. Prayers that's all it was and Coach Williams recovers quickly - someones health trumps the rivalry 365 days a year.

I know there are many more comments after yours but the clowns at THR were total jerks when K missed a game last week. Joking about how he is faking it again because Duke was just out of the top 25. Joking about his back surgery 20 years ago as if he was faking that one too. Total A holes. Wish Roy well myself, health wise, but those people are disgusting. If the same happened to K they would be a sick bunch of pathetic haters. Psychotic, twisted people over there.

Yep, everyone loves innocent and old *** looking Wooden but you here he was a pretty shady guy as well. He was the Cal of his day, simply overpowered everyone with talent, coaching doesn't matter so much.

Yes, I'm one of those people you're referring to, and proudly so.

Not me, just see too much of it from those clowns to let it slide. K was sick for the Tech game and it was nothing but those idiots laughing about it and saying that it was because Duke dropped out of the top 25. Referred to the back injury 20 years ago and make jokes about it. They are scumbags.

as a Tar Heel fan, I take no pride in any of what you observed on THR. But in the defense of Tar Heel fans, there have been some Blue Devil fans on other forums that made the same type of comments about Roy and his recent ailments. Again, my hope is that the majority of our collective fans take the high road and not let the baiters be the loudest voices. I think the majority of fans hope K and Roy are well but maybe not the majority of fans who take the time to post on forums.
