Those SDSU guys might be great, but those optics are certainly there. The only people refusing to see it are your typical blind dumb homer sheep Rhule apologists who are incapable of having an independent objective thought when it comes to Nebraska football.
I guess people are entertained in different ways. I was stoked when Solich took over, then I spent some time around his team...they were a-holes, undisciplined, he was a weasel and their fall was quick and predictable. Then I was stoked when we scored on Cally's first drive...but was obviously disappointed. Still loved the Zac years and the recruiting was interesting. I was super excited about Bo, then he hired a bunch of criminal coaches and abused his players, and couldn't win a big game, I wasn't excited about Reilly at all, then blew my load for Frost and realized he was in over his head by the michigan game first year...Rhule was just an obvious bad hire...probably has to do with seeing so many other bad hires and knowing probability is on the pessimists side. But if people are happy hoping. Good for them. I'll be happy talking **** until we do something, like beat a ranked team

Some fall by Solich, only winning 75% of his games. Take a look at the 2004 schedule. Frank probably wins 8-9 games.

Going 7-7 a few years after having the greatest team in history sounds like discipline? Players were just happy to be treated like champions without being champions, team full of cocky a-holes that didn't do anything other than follow greatness. That attitude went all the way up to the head guy. Completely different mindset under T.O. Solich was a poser, his players were posers...guys under T.O literally killed themselves for their teammates and for the N. Not good guys off the field but high standards on it. How many great NFL players played in 95 or 97...almost none. They were great because of culture. Coaches talk about there being a lack of leadership on their team, but it always starts with head guy...the head guy can't be the only leader but he sets the tone, and you can't have great leaders without the head of the snake being strong. Solich was ***, struggled with multiple vices in his own life, and just wasn't a coach fit for that position. Nobody wanted him after either.

Let me get this straight. You were excited about Solich, Callahan, Pelini and Frost. Because you were excited, you felt like they were going to be successful.

You were wrong on those 4, but somehow the Rhule hire is an "obvious" bad one?

And why exactly does talking sh#% make you happy? How about we wait to see if the changes he’s made bear fruit?

Discipline? Frank and his staff were a mess and I like Frank. My brother-in -law knows Frank well. Good guy but a flawed human being like all of us. No doubt he would do some things differently. His staff had some alcohol and in at least one case drug problems😕

You expect a bunch of hall of famers on one college team? You act like we didn't have dudes in 95 or 97. Hilarious. I'm not even sure what your ranting about at this point. Are you somehow arguing the championship teams didn't have awesome players?

Frank ruined the program by being a terrible leader and bringing in bad players who thought they were good because the team won some titles. That was my thesis. Frank gets a pass because he won some games with Tom's talent...once the talent recruited by T.O was gone the team completely cratered. Franks last recruiting class was 40th with 18 recruits...he was lazy, entitled, an alcoholic and womanizer. And worst of all, he was untalented. I don't blame T.O for bringing him in because hindsight tells us that the rest of the staff was just as bad as Frank but Frank was an absolute disaster. You seem to think that wrecking the greatest program in history in five years is deserving of praise.

Haha You are all over the place with your ranting. I didnt say anything about Frank. I was just laughing about your undisciplined as@*oles comment. Then you had a terrible take about our title teams not having great players.

I think you're the one with the comprehension problem here. @orclover11 isn't saying anything close to what you're claiming.

The team was a mix of blue chip guys and players developed in systems that had been optimized. Charlie went from Zero to 60 in getting defensive speed on the field in the couple of years before the title run. The offense was a damned Wagon.
As for the rest of it, once the consensus was Frank sucked and NU is slipping to mediocrity, NU became another coaching carousel program. The hope was that we’d reached bottom with Callahan (who actually made a CCG and beat Michigan in a bowl game), but it turns our we weren’t trying hard enough.
