Roy Williams Says He Should Probably Be Fired

After losing to Clemson at home.

I had no idea Clemson was 0-59 at UNC stretching back to 1926. That's crazy.

"We've had some great moments as a coach and right now I'd say this is my lowest one because losing this game was my fault," Williams said. "Told them if I die tomorrow or 20 years from now that'll be the biggest regret I had in 32 years as a coach. Cause these kids really need a win. And their coach let them down today."

Williams didn't stop there, either.

"Gotta tell Bubba he should probably fire me, it probably wouldn't be a bad idea," Williams said, folding up a stat sheet to put in his jacket pocket. "The coach is supposed to help his kids. I didn't help them very much.''

Guarantee whenever we play them they all of a sudden will be world beaters. We seem too bring out the best in struggling opponents!

Remember that Roy has had some health issues off and on the last couple years. Last year we seen him fall to his knees during a game. I was just looking around on NC board and he’s also mentioning other health issues now. So those that pray, think of CRW. If you don’t have your good health, you have nothing.

Williams is a great coach. His health hasn't been good lately so I will join you and think of him when I pray.

Don’t be surprised if this is just another way to motivate his team to over achieve. How would you as a player respond if you were on the 1st team to lose to Clemson in 60 home games and your coach tried to take all the responsibility? Good players won’t let that happen and the best way to respond is on the court. If they don’t, that does say a lot about these players...

I love it when these high profile coaches start losing. They always blame the team. Or we are young or "just fire me." IF THESE so called great coaches were so good, then they would be able to COACH these difficult teams to victories. If coach Williams can turn this team around to have a winning season.....then yes he would be considered a really good coach. Right now, I just consider him lucky, like the rest of the coaches that get top recruits and win alot of games with them.

He is blaming hisself.
Sometimes the TEAM doesnt pan out and you go to the NIT. Happens to every school.

This team stinks. It’s young, filled with mid-major players, and his best player is hurt. Outside of 2 players, it wasn’t a great class.

Recruiting is very important and Roy hasn’t replaced what he lost the last few years. I mean he couldn’t even convince Seventh Woods to return for his senior year.

It’s not just that he doesn’t have talent, it’s that it pretty much all new players learning his system too.

But guess what? He’ll return a lot from this roster and has a top 5 recruiting class coming in including 3 5-stars and 2 other top 50 players. They’ll be back. I mean they went to the NIT after their 2009 title and they came right back.
