Common App.Over 80k applicants!!! That’s impressive
Yes, EA just got iit back. Seems like RU has figured out how to handle all the applicants. Think the fist year they went to common app, EA weren’t notified until early Feb.I know someone who just received her acceptance according to a member of her family.
Ofc. But RU was late to the game. Most schools were on the common app way before RU.Common App.
It certainly helps.

A fee for every school you pick.As someone not involved in this for a long time, is there a single fee covering all applications or a fee per school?
Over 80k applicants!!! That’s impressiv
I truly believe we will be punching up to UVA, UNC level within a decade.Over 80k applicants!!! That’s impressive

They holding out for the out of state acceptances.
Had same issue here with tOSU - son couldn’t be happier at Miami of Ohio.
Being on UVA/UNC level requires the type of give a **** those schools get in return from their alumni. Based on the RU Screw experience I find that unlikely lol.
I have also been told that Miami of Ohio is a better school for undergrads than Ohio State. I think it's also a plus that it's smaller than most of the other schools that @RUInsanityToo 's son has gotten into so far.My grandfather was the starting center on the 1915 Miami of Ohio hoops team. My mother attended and many Ohio relatives on both sides attended and graduated. For undergrad education many in Ohio rate Miami over Ohio St.
Nearly half of UVA's law school alums are donors to the law school, which raised $17.7 million in 2002.Being on UVA/UNC level requires the type of give a **** those schools get in return from their alumni. Based on the RU Screw experience I find that unlikely lol.
So are all schools on common app getting 80k+?Yes.
But that number has a lot to do with Rutgers finally offering it.
I think it’s more about easy access now than an increase in popularity.
You forgot to list the two most important factors. What’s his GPA and SAT? I’m sure he’ll enjoy his college experience wherever he decides. My oldest is at RU. My youngest had overkill on his applications but ultimately got accepted early action to Tennesee, Auburn, Colorado, Miami OH, SHU, Clemson, Arizona, Kentucky....still waiting on Pitt and Tampa. He's also getting money from most. His application to RU NBR was deferred. He's still in the decision process.
NJ resident my entire life. RU Grad, Donor and Parent. Youngest has been going to games since he was 3. His reaction was F Rutgers! I kind of feel the same way.
No. Small school won’t get 80k applications. Most schools are on common app but only large public’s and top privates would get 80k plus applications. So are all schools on common app getting 80k+?

Which ru schools did he apply? RU lets the student apply to 3 schools where other schools only let you apply once. Did he get deferred by all 3??I'm sure he'll do fine wherever he decides. I'm just harping on the point of the matter.
ACT - 29
GPA - 3.8 (non weighted) he had IB courses as well. Some of the schools listed had higher acceptance thresholds on SCOIR....just very surprising RU response for us.
Kids that I know that got in (including my son) were 1400+ SAT and 4.2+ weighted GPA. I also know they are not going to RU. I think your son has a good chance if he is willing to wait.I'm sure he'll do fine wherever he decides. I'm just harping on the point of the matter.

Fordham got 40K the first year they joined. So are all schools on common app getting 80k+?
Rutgers is smart. They know the yield will be lower so they accept more kids. This is the reason the acceptance rate is still in the 40% range.Fordham got 40K the first year they joined.
And like @RU206 said, I think that’s the case here too.
“Rutgers” is a name. A big and a B1G one. I’d be more interested to see of those who were accepted actually enroll.
Have you looked at Rowan. D3 but really good school. My daughter went there because Rutgers does not have an Athletic Training major. They 4+1 Masters. President is extremely engaged. My oldest is at RU. My youngest had overkill on his applications but ultimately got accepted early action to Tennesee, Auburn, Colorado, Miami OH, SHU, Clemson, Arizona, Kentucky....still waiting on Pitt and Tampa. The yield rate -- the percentage of admitted students who enroll -- is 27% at Rutgers-New Brunswick. This is substantially less than at, say, UNC or U VA. Things are better than in the past, but RU still has a long way to go.Rutgers is smart. They know the yield will be lower so they accept more kids. This is the reason the acceptance rate is still in the 40% range.
I have gone through the process twice now. The high school counselors are pushing all in state kids to apply regardless of interest because it’s a good option. Most of the top kids are still choosing elsewhere but the honors college is proving a great way to keep top students.
* As have I.Rutgers is smart. They know the yield will be lower so they accept more kids. This is the reason the acceptance rate is still in the 40% range.

I’m 0-2 also. I did a coffee chat with a kid in the honors college and he was really impressive. 1560 SAT out of high school. Currently a 4.0 student on the Road to Wall Street program. They need to keep more of these kids in state.* As have I.
Both got into SOE but Rutgers was the runner up both times.
+ Like I said, I’m more interested in the type who is actually showing up. So I was very interested to see a few years ago how many from Biotech were actually going. It was a lot more than I thought.
Btw, Rutgers only offered both boys the opportunity to take a federally backed loan. No aid at all. Only school that did that.
I have a nice zip code but again, Rutgers was the only school to offer nothing.I’m 0-2 also. OSU is huge! my son's friend goes there and wants to transfer as it's just too big for him.I have also been told that Miami of Ohio is a better school for undergrads than Ohio State. I think it's also a plus that it's smaller than most of the other schools that @RUInsanityToo 's son has gotten into so far.
My wife completed some coursework for a Master's degree at Miami of Ohio. Lovely campus. While not the college radio station, the nearby station in Oxford, Ohio, WOXY has a quite a history, mostly as 97X-The Future of Rock n Roll- which Dustin Hoffman repeated in the movie Rainman. My grandfather was the starting center on the 1915 Miami of Ohio hoops team. My mother attended and many Ohio relatives on both sides attended and graduated. For undergrad education many in Ohio rate Miami over Ohio St.
They got 1 of our 2. Honors College, but that experienced was truncated by the pandemic. Graduated early, and did not complete the HC requirements. The scholarship $$$ were fantastic. Due to pandemic, IIRC, was not in a dorm for 3 semesters. The 3.5 years cost us something like $27K total (graduated in 2022). Got a fantastic job with a top software company that hires Rutgers Computer Science majors.I’m 0-2 also. I did a coffee chat with a kid in the honors college and he was really impressive. 1560 SAT out of high school. Currently a 4.0 student on the Road to Wall Street program. I have 2 kids currently at RU. They got zero from the school. RU doesn’t give a lot of aid.I have a nice zip code but again, Rutgers was the only school to offer nothing.
Even TCNJ and Rowan gave something. NJIT offered the most out of all the state schools.
every other school, especially out of state schools offered something.
It’s designed that way. Those schools need to “buy” talent. If RU wasn’t a good option, those school wouldn’t have to offer incentives.Often the difference between in-state and out of state tuition.
That’s like top 10% of the kids in NJ. We live in a state with a bunch of overachievers. The number of kids that score over 1500 SATs in our public high school is shocking.Have friend who’s kid (Ohio based) was valedictorian, nationally ranked athlete (dance), national honors society, lot of local accolades etc. got into RU = 0 scholarship or other merit aide…went to UC for free.
Rutgers sucks that way. Told my kids not to apply cause they were too cheap and it’s not worth it. Better off at home.
