Most are the rules are designed with safety in mind. The blindside block will be the big one as you can't blow up anyone anymore.

Face guarding being allowed is a huge change that will help defenses.

We have had multiple Tds called back the last couple of seasons on what is essentially the rule they just put in place on blindside blocks.

Thanks for posting Newt. Sad to see my fave onside kick type ruled illegal moving forward. Really reduces the possibility of recovering one if you can't bounce it up.

But to your point Gooms, some of the most dangerous hits I have seen have been when that front line looks up waiting for that onside kick to come down.

4-2-2l (NEW): Specifies that the ball is declared dead if a prosthetic limb comes completely off the runner.

Rationale: With this change, the ball becomes dead when a prosthetic limb comes completely off the runner.

I'd love to hear the story behind this one.

Was waiting for someone to catch this. Does this kind of thing happen often? Is it a penalty for illegal use of equipment?

Dead ball only when it comes completely off. Coaches, be sure to instruct your players that it's a live ball if the limb is just hanging there on a strap and is still partially attached!

Now I get it!!!

In 2016, a team down state had a player with a prosthetic arm. We'll call him Lefty. Very late in a playoff game, the team ran the "Lefty Release" play where they threw the ball out to Lefty in the flat. The CB closed on the play and Lefty gave the CB the literal stiff-arm. The CB took the bait and grabbed Lefty's arm, which Lefty had secretly detached just before the play. As Lefty flew down the sidelines for the winning score, the opposing coach vowed his revenge on Lefty and the other school. This rule will now forever be known as "Lefty's Release Rule."

I always felt face guarding should not be a penalty. Glad to see that change. Now if they want to ask me about any other rule changes feel free to contact me.
