Run Defense

I don’t know why Mike Uva pins so much of the blame for the bad run defense on the D-Line! It’s an entire defense problem! After Kaba went down our LBs were below average(slow to read plays and slow to get to the edge.)and we play too much man defense which has a bad effect on our perimeter defense. The corners don’t have good ball awareness on run plays when they are chasing receivers down field.

Agree, we had good contain and perimeter defense early but lost it as the season progressed. One reason it was not as apparent in the TN and Clemtech wins is, thankfully, they chose to throw the ball instead of dedicating to the run game.

Well, look at the bright side. At least we don't have Charley Strongs defense anymore. It didn't matter if it was 3rd and 10 or 3rd and 40 --- the other team was going to get that 1st down no matter what. It was ridiculous. Every time. We're better now so I'm calling that progress.
