My first year down here I had to go to a training on Versailles Rd. In Lexington. Couldn’t find it and asked a gas station worker several times before I gave them the paper with the address and then they understood. Ridiculous.
Well ......... El Tovar is an absolute must do . Weekdays essential . What kind of mileage are you gonna hike , and do you have trials picked out ? I can advise of great places in Sedona , Flagstaff , and don't overlook Old Town Cottonwood if it gets in your way . Jerome is absolutely wonderful also. Key to Jerome and Cottonwood is don't go when the tourist folks are there . The time of day can make a huge difference to all these places . Get up a little earlier , enjoy the vacation headache taking in these places before the rest of the vacationers do. That's the key . If you want specifics I can help . Northern Arizona is an surprisingly beautiful if you can slow your brain down enough to really take in what is going on (so close together ). Cheers
We checked our schedule and are able to fit in a visit to Kentuck Knob just before Fallingwater.

I thought the views were spectacular.
Both are spectacular, although Fallingwater gets more publicity (I also think it is significantly more visually appealing).
I had an issue like that with someone on a m/c trip who was from Long Island. We were trying to map out her route from Ct. back home and she said she lived on "Shaw Road".....which I took as exactly that - "Shaw" Road. I looked on my phone three times and nothing came up. Finally I asked her to spell the road for me and she spelled "S-H-O-R-E"....and I said - "Oh, SHORE Road", and she replied - "yes that is what I said - 'Shaw' Road".
+1. My issue with Fallingwater is that at 6'3" it's kind of cramped. The Kaufman's must have been tiny people.
But I thought the views from Kentuck Knob were amazing.
My wife said that this year she wanted to go someplace she's never been before. I said, "How about the kitchen?"
lol, why would you? It was on the way, and it was open. Watching the other patrons was half the show. Big ZZ Top guys in leather opening their presents on Christmas morning. Just awesome.
Wonder what the French equivalent is of Big Bone Lick?
Taking I75 up to Cinci, I’m still taken off guard by signs for Big Bone Lick state park. I always suggest we visit on our way but my wife always says no.

Excellent idea. I stayed in Canmore while I was there and it was pretty perfect. Jasper with the Icefields is an excellent idea as well.

Meadowcroft is land owned by my grandmothers family. You’ll probably drive by the farm I grew up on to get there. If you do go there, call to see if they have an active tour going on with someone working in the blacksmith shop. I have not been back down there since before Covid so I’m not sure how many of the older staff still work in each of the little areas but previously they did have chances to throw axes and atlatls at targets and see lots of the old harness racing buggies and things.I'm heading out to Pittsburgh to watch the Phillies play the Pirates in late July and thinking about taking in either the Palace of Gold in West Virginia or the Meadowcroft Rockshelter. Has anyone been to either one of these attractions?

They generally have a speaker to talk about the archaeological dig, and sometimes even archaeologists from Pitt are there at the same time.
You may not like it, but your kids will love Wildwoods Boardwalk and the many pizza/hoagie/burger shops.
Was in Sedona, Flagstaff, GC back in December. Love it there. One of the best things we did was rented an observatory at Lowell for an hour with an on-staff astronomer. It was amazing! ATV rentals and hiking Bear Mountain were up at the top too.
I went to Wildwood every year as a kid with my siblings and cousins. Thrashers fries on the boardwalk were the best! I can confirm they definitely at least USED to be there. (it's been many years since I was last there.)
I have one for the AKB. Looking to take the fam to a tropical island next summer. Two boys 16 and 13. They haven’t yet experienced clear water. We want to take them snorkeling, catamaran, etc. Price isn’t an issue(I don’t think). TIA.
My go to is the Cayman Islands. Plenty of clear water there, plus everything you mentioned. The Bahamas would be next. In the summer both places will be hot , maybe some rain showers but w a breeze

I second the Cayman Islands. Especially Grand Cayman. Find a spot on 7 mile beach where you can just walk into the water and get excellent snorkeling without taking a long ride on a boat. Safe, relatively easy to get to, and turtles.
Yes on the Cayman Islands. Here's my recommendation:
Rent a condo on the 7 mile beach. You'll have good snorkeling right at your condo.
Hit the supermarket in George Town and stock up on lunches and snacks. Your condo will probably have a gas grill in the court yard.
Walk or use the buses (mini-van type vehicles that continually run up and down the 7 mile beach strip. They will also get you to the supermarket if you don't want to walk.
Take a taxi from the airport to your condo.
Rent a car for a day or two to visit the rest of the island. Don't miss the Blow holes and Starfish Point. Bring your snorkeling gear.
Take a reef trip that will include a stop at Sting Ray City.
Bring a bottle of your favorite spirit as the price of booze on the island will shock most people.

I just looked up where we stayed. Plantation Village and Crescent Point, which are the end of 7 mile beach near George Town. Plan on a place with private beach access. The public beach access on 7 mile beach has a bunch of people trying to get you to purchase things and it's just annoying.
That’s only down by the public beach where they take the cruise ship people. All beaches in GC are public FTR you can walk up and down the beach, only the iron shore near Georgetown will stop you Governors beach I thought was lovely. The beach in front of the comfort inn is lovely as are most of the beaches on 7 mile beach.

Think about a trip across southern Utah to see the awesome scenery and some of Americas great national parks. I just got back last week. Flew into Vegas and made my way to St George, Hurricane, and Kanab UT, Page AZ and a lot of off the grid places in between. Visited Zions and Bryce National Parks, Snow, Glen and Marble canyons, Vermillion Cliffs, and Lake Powell. The scenery was spectacular and the weather near perfect. I think there was one day where the temp got up above 100 degrees. If you like camping, you can even spend a night or two under the stars with all the amenities you can think of. Here are just a few of the pics I took during the trip.

I guess technically you are correct but the signs and roped off areas say differently. As for the public beach, my kids wanted to go check it out so we went there planning to spend most of a day. The "vendors" were a pain in the arse that we headed back to our condo's beach after an hour or two.
