If I were associated with Rutgers, what would be most concerning is that the deficits are growing. The deficit was $78m in 2024-25 alone and that number is expected to grow for 2025-26. They are going to lose $100m a year in the very near future.
At some point the smart people in the room will say No More!It’s not worth it.Small schools like G5 and FCS already asking that question.One day the Carolina BOT might be faced with question though not any time soon.
It could be an "either/or" situation, but as bad as it is, I'd bet on it being a "both/and" situation.
I hope the whole house of cards that is college athletics collapses. College athletic departments and associations have turned into government like entities when it comes to money. No amount of money is enough. Their answer for every problem is for the fans to give more.
If their athletic department is losing all that money, the school is paying from its overall funds?
