Not that GS is setting the world on fire but if he was coaching a team loaded with 4 and 5 star players we would not be having the conversations we are now about his lack of success.
But, the fact is that Day (and his staff) gets all those 4* and 5* to TOSU. I wish we could keep half of those that he gets at Ohio St to stay home.

Day was a fill-in for a scandal plagued Meyer
Day is a rebounder - a place holder.
He's from Hew Hampshire and is a cranky-yankee
He doesn't have NC written all over him

This thread belongs in the twilight zone. The dude is 45-5 at OSU and currently has the highest average star rating for the 2023 class. It is tough to win NC's, especially with established coaches like Saban and Swinney in place before he became a HC. It is not out of the question he can sneak into the playoff this year with some luck. OSU should have a conversation with Nebraska before the cut Day loose.

But its the big games that matter most at tOSU
Michigan beat Ohio by double - thrashed-em - did the same last year
Its not going to play well
Third strike and he'll be out

Ohio State has not done a good job in the evaluation of their QBs. They let Joe Burrow transfer in lieu of JT Barrett and they let Ewers transfer in lieu of Stroud who I think is vastly overrated.
Stroud is better than Ewers. As I was watching some of the Baylor-Texas game yesterday the analyst remarked that he would just keep running the ball and keep the game out of Ewers hands. Tells you all you need to know.

Stroud is definitely better than Ewers. Ewers has a long way to go to be as good as Stroud. Stroud isn’t the best with pressure on him, unlike Young who can make magic out of nowhere.

Texas is Thunder and Thunder with Robinson and Johnson. Ewers is secondary to that by a good margin.

He's basically what Chris Ash probably would be if we had his Day instead of Ash back then. The guy that took Urban's established formula, won with his recruits, continued the same formula, but couldn't keep the quality control and execution quite as high, and now the superior rival coach is starting to outperform him. He's their Flood.

Stroud will be a backup QB in NFL.

If OSU gets hammered tonight (don’t think they will) does Day get one more year to win a natty?

The interesting thing is if Michigan wins , day is better off losing to Georgia tonight than losing to Michigan twice in 6 weeks

I think Georgia wins but wouldn’t be surprised if tOSU pulls it out.

If Michigan can get going and win I think they will be playing for another crack at the game.

If OSU hired Schiano instead, he would certainly have been fired by now. Ridiculous to compare the two.
no OSU would be unbeaten and untied and you would be finding fault wtth anyone Hobbs hired because Schiano was the man in Columbus.

In his defense, very close loss. But some coaches never have what it takes to win the really big games, like Brian Kelly. He might be that kind of coach.

Totally agree. You don’t play for a 50-yard field goal in college, especially with that kind of spotlight on a young kicker. Terrible job by Day
Well while they ran on 1st down they did put it in the air on 2nd and 3rd. They had to use a back as a receiver once Harrison left. What I might have done is have Stroud keep it on one of those downs.

I was thinking the same, spread them out and maybe a Stroud draw if you wanted to keep it on the ground and get it a little closer.

I think the third strike might be losing some recruiting battles he should win. If that happens before he loses to Michigan again.. or to some other Big Ten team he should beat... he will be GONE. I think he may be another James Franklin. With the right pieces around him he may do okay for his role.. he may be just a figurehead.. then again, Ryan Day was the OC.. and the offense did well today.

Ryan Day playing conservative at the end for a 50 yard FG while he had 2 timeouts left is an epic fail.

Day completely blew this game by channeling his inner-Herm Edwards and playing for a 50 yard field goal at the end. His team puts up 41 points and he gets scared with 30 seconds left to go in the game. He deserves to lose.
How in the hell did he play conservative? The dude had complete control of the game and decided to throw on 2nd and throw on 3rd.

He should have ran the ball twice. Likely picks up a 1st. Make it a 40-43 yard FG. OSU wins.

Conservative wins the game there. Day was not conservative, he coached like he had no control over the situation.

I see OSU and Michigan winning - just a gut feeling...
You actually weren’t far off since they both should have won

Announcers were hyping up that kicker so much and saying how he was perfect, you knew the miss was coming

Schiano runs the ball on 2nd down and runs the ball on 3rd down and the kicker nails the kick. Rutgers advances to the national championship.

I’ll fight anyone that disagrees. Ryan Day robbed his team from a W
Get the gloves
GS runs the ball on 2nd and 3rd mismanages the clock/timeouts and time runs out😳🤣
