I hear you, look at all those dumps that didn't have Northwestern to lift them up!
Kenilworth, Winnetka, Glencoe, Highland Park, Lake Forest, all just complete turdburgers with nothing going for them at all. Without Northwestern, Evanston would be horrible just like them.

Baloney. Waukegan has the lake and is still a ********.
The first criteria was that it was the closest suburb to Chicago and that makes it the shortest commute to downtown with rail and el lines for someone not living in the city, Also North is better than south. That is a huge factor. It also has the lake and all of the close suburbs that have both tend to be pretty well off,

Waukegan may have the lake but it is an hour farther away and a lot of stuff in between

Rumor stadium will not be ready on Oct 2nd
The article today says that the current cost is up to $870 million, due to overtime caused by excessive snow days this winter. I doubt the Ryan family would be spending this dough if they didn't expect the stadium to open October 2.

Fake news.

It will probably be safe to occupy, but far fewer amenities. You know, like ORF (the stadium, not the airport)

Agreed. Time is not exactly on Pat Ryan’s side and Cash is still King in Chicago.

I plan on flying back for at least one game, likely homecoming. It better not be at Wrigley.

They were not what they are now prior to Northwestern’s founding. Do your research.

  • The Ryan Field project budget now is $870 million, in part because of a Chicago winter full of bad weather. Ryan Sports Development, which is running the project, budgeted 20 bad weather days for the 2025-26 winter season but has tallied 45, including a first snowfall in late October. More workers are trying to make up lost time. Ryan Jr. said his family is willing to go 2% over budget (they’re responsible for any cost overruns) to ensure the project finishes in time for Northwestern to host Penn State on Oct. 2.
