It’s time for one of my favorite sporting events! I love the Ryder Cup even if we keep getting our red white and blue asses kicked by those Olé shouting “we need a whole continent to win” Europeans.

I’m excited to have 6 rookies on this years team. Why? Well experience hasn’t really been helping this century has it.

Patrick Reed? Leave him home was the right call. With the double pneumonia and the injury I’m not convinced he’s at 100%. We need everyone healthy.

But I’d leave him off the team anyway. I’m tired of hearing about how he is the leading point getter for the US in his 3 Ryder Cups. How many points did he cost us by rubbing off on his teammates? When you’re the ******* it doesn’t bother you but if affects all those around you. I don’t dislike Reed and I think he enjoys being a villain; but in a team concept that’s not always the best to have around.

Big question now is will Stricker pick Reed if Koepka’s wrist injury keeps him from going? After Reed liking a bunch a tweets critical of Stricker for leaving him off the team it will be hard.

How’d I do @cawoodsct?

I like the Shoeffler pick. He's great in match play and hits the ball a mile. That length should come in handy on this course.

Of course it's Steve Stricker and the Ryder Cup, we're gonna get blasted.

I'm sure he named fellow Ryder Cup European Legend Jim Furyk to his staff

Stricker will cry over a ping pong match outcome. Plenty of people deserve this more than him. His Tiger friendship gained him a ton. I hope we win despite the poor choice as captain.

Captain is as irrelevant as what brand golf tee they use. No one "deserves" it.

I love the Ryder Cup. I thought it was cool at the 2008 game against Louisville they brought out Nick Faldo and Paul Azinger to remind everyone that the Ryder Cup was in Kentucky.

Kisner should have made it. Or Na.
I love Kisner and he's good in match play, but he's had a pretty bad year other than the one win. He missed the cut or was a nonfactor in every major and big tournament. Hard for Stricker to justify that pick.

Na's also great, but he can't hit it far enough. He'd be at a disadvantage on a 7400 yd course.

Always look forward to the Ryder Cup. There was a stat that Johnny Miller brought out during his last Ryder Cup broadcast about matches that had gone to the 18th hole. The European team had won the vast majority of those holes. I don't recall the exact number, but it was very lopsided toward the Euros.

Billy Horschel would have been good pick. Match play champ. Got a feeling he would rise to the occasion

That was an aberration. Dude is 170th this year in driving distance and 167th in strokes gained off the tee.
Na is a ruthless competitor and an awesome putter. he gained enough strokes all year to finish 3rd in the world. yeah, you are right, he sucks.

I never said Na sucks. I believe I said I Na is great in a previous post. However, Stricker was right not to pick him because his lack of length off the tee would have been a disadvantage on this course.

Can you imagine a match between Rory and Na where Na is giving up 30-40 yds off the tee on average? I don't care how good your putting is, having a 5 iron or hybrid into a 500+ yd par 4 when your opponent has an 8 iron is a huge problem.

I hope Koepka can’t play. Can’t stand that effer and I don’t want to listen to Hicks for 3 days talking about how Bryson and Koepka agreed to shelve the feud. I think Na would be okay. I guess we have to wait and see.

I know an easy fix to make sure the US goes back to dominating the Ryder Cup. Require players to have their primary residence in a country represented by their team. This would fit the Euros.

They would lose Rahm, McIlroy, Hatton, Fitzpatrick, Casey, Hovland, Poulter, Lowry and Garcia. LOL.

But I found this interesting, their are 11 of the 24 players in this RC who live primarily in Florida, 7 of those in Jupiter.

If the RC was Florida/Sea Island GA v Rest of US/Euro these would be the teams.

Florida
1. Brooks
2. JT
3. Berger
4. McIlroy
5. Fitzpatrick
6. Lowry
7. Hatton
8. Poulter
9. Garcia
10. DJ
11. Cantlay
12. English.

Rest of US/Euro
1. Rahm
2. Fleetwood
3. Weisberger
4. Casey
5. Hovland
6. Westwood
7. Morikawa
8. Bryson
9. Finau
10. Xander
11. Spieth
12. Scheffler

My money would be on Florida!

he plays the same course as everyone one else, length be damned. he played all year on 7000+ yards courses against Brooksie, Koepka, AND Rory. he finished third in the world.

Why do you keep saying Na finished 3rd in the world. He is not #3 in the world. Kevin Na is #25.

Finishing 3rd in the FedEx Cup is not finishing 3rd in the world. And Na was #24 after the regular season, 18th after the Northern Trust and 19th after the BMW. He had a great week at the Tour Championship to finish 3rd in the FedEx Cup. But let’s put his rankings and achievements this year where they belong.

I like Na and wouldn’t have a problem with him being on the team but let’s be factual about his world rankings and finishes this year.

Kevin Na seems like a good guy but I'm still having problems forgetting this happening all the time. The most annoyed I've ever been watching gold because it was every shot.

An old take Glenn but damn that was annoying to us. I can’t imagine how much it bothered him cause it was all mental. I truly believe if he hadn’t got it under control it would have ruined his career.

Kisner is the bigger miss. Dude is a match play assassin.
instead Europe gonna blow the US out again.
This I can agree with. I believe they also polled tour players earlier this year on which players they prefer to be paired with, and Kisner was at the top of this list, so he's obviously well-liked which is good for team play.

If you've never seen their videos check out Foreplay Golf (the Barstool guys) on YouTube. There's a few videos where they hang out and play rounds with Kisner. He just seems like a good old South Carolina boy who happens to be really good at golf.

Miss having Reed but he struggled the last couple months plus the health issue. But there’s not a greater match play competitor imo.

Will never forget his takedown of Rory in the greatest singles match I’ve ever seen.

A well placed tee shot is a lot more important at Whistling Straits than length. If you do not hit it straight you are in a world of trouble at Whistling Straits. (LOL)

#straightatthestraigts that is my #tag for Ryder Cup. Bombing is NOT the only way to attack the course, actually not gripping and ripping is the better play. I have a feeling Bryson is going to end up in a lot of trouble off the tee letting the big dog eat there. We shall see.

It was a great match, but I liked Mickelson/Garcia more that year. Higher level golf without all the chest-beating theatrics. Can you imagine Jack or Arnie screaming like MME fighters after a made putt?
