I think a huge reason for his lack of success is who he is playing. Henrik Stenson has played really well. Seemingly making everything except that last one on 15. Last time he was against McDowell who is a Ryder Cup stalwart.

He won the PGA which is obviously a huge accomplishment. Outside of that he wasn't very good this year at least not to his standards. He was way back in points leading up to the PGA.
