Very true. 😂

I could give the same type of reply : You are the guy that thinks that bucs rule anything or you are the guy that thinks we don’t need 3 points shooter……Nevermind.

But since is Good Friday, I would say pax vobiscum my brother and be well.
God bless you. Even though I disagree with most of what you say and you seem very negative and contrary in nature, you are still my brother in BBN and in Christ (I assume due to the Good Friday comment).

When I get mad at some bad take, I try to remember that it’s a human clicking on that keyboard and a soul —- and God cares about my behavior online just like in person. I still screw up royally lol.

I do wonder how much of the shenanigans would be gone if everyone knew each others names. Not that I want my info out there lol

Yep. I think that’s what Pope is looking for, someone to fill that Robinson role.

I think Williams or Chandler is going to fill that Brea role. With better defense.

Here is how I see it:

PG Lowe replaces Butler.
SG Oweh returns.
SF Portal guy replaces Robinson.
PF Dioubate replaces Carr.
C Quaintance replaces Williams.

PG Johnson replaces Kriisa.
SG Chandler returns.
SF Williams replaces Brea.
PF Jelavic replaces Almonor.
C Garrison returns.

G Perry returns.
F Noah returns.
C Moreno is bonus.
I posted in another thread I hope all these guys we have coming including ones returning, live up to the projected analytics or we are screwed.

The KU games I watched he was absolutely awful. Missed many open looks from 3, turned the ball over numerous times, and nothing special defensively. Pass
Really now ? He shot 34% from 3 on a down year, and averaged LESS than a turnover per game. HTF did he turn it over "numerous" times ? The MOST turnovers he had in a game was TWO. So NO you didn't see him turn it over "numerous" times. Quit lying to prop your stance on him. I am not for or against signing him, but will not make **** up to prop up my stance.

I really don’t know. I’d imagine we can get him cheaper because he had the down year, which could make him more feasible than Sarr and some other guard options like Haggerty or CBM. I don’t know who favorites are or anything like that but I would love to land Griffen.
Why do we always have to get someone who is “cheaper”? This is getting irritating to see all the time.
For an elite shooter, pay the money for a change. Other teams rebuilding competitive rosters are.

All in here.

He's got that look to fit the system, to my eyes. That's just another piece to plug in and watch it go HUM. He's the kind of player that can also make the others around him even more deadly. Experience galore to boot.

What is not to like ?

If that's "the final piece" .... hooobooy

let's just lace them up and start playing NOW

This is crazy up in here !

Go Big Blue !

I wish you were subscribed to HOB. There are some charts being shared over there that I really wish you could see. I’ll say Griffen isn’t the sexy name but he could be absolutely a weapon. It’s a way bigger potential add than I thought at first. Has to do with his efficiency in certain things related to specific things we do a lot in our offense.
Me too, I may sub for these last couple recruitments. Idk yet.

No clue how close we are to grabbing this guy, but it’s crazy to me to doubt it. He got up shots at Bama and delivered at a high clip.

He’ll feel like he’s been released from purgatory if he plays for us. Tyler Childers has nothing on him.
He’s definitely got upside for sure and wouldn’t be the worst add at all. I just think we shot take a shot at the best an available player we can, if Pope thinks he’s fits best bring him on.

Because we don’t have an endless supply of money. If we had infinite money, we could overpay people the way BYU can. I’ve always heard we are doing good NIL wise but I’ve come to the conclusion that we must not feel comfortable enough to spend outrageous amounts. That said, we still allegedly spent more than 10M this year, if you believe that.

I think what Pope is doing is trying to get the best value for each guy until we amass a warchest of NIL. We can’t just think about this year —- we have to think about future years.
I’m speculating here but I think this has something to do with why we show interest in some guys that we aren’t really all in on —- we are also working to make our rivals schools spend more of their overall balance of NIL funds which could give us an advantage later on.

TLDR - We don’t have infinite money. That’s why we have to budget.

Scraping near the bottom of the barrel. Even when he had a decent sophomore season he wasn't very efficient. Or maybe it was the fit though I have my doubts. Was a top 40 rsci guy out of HS tho.

Not at all…. Let’s be real, none of those listed are reliable on prime time , when they become the main focus of opposing defenses like Breah or Jr were.

We still need 2 shooters from 3 to replace Brea and Jr.

If you don’t have those type of guys the % of everyone you listed goes down.

It’s obvious that Pope and staff thinks that we need shooters since that has been their focus lately.

So no buddy, we don’t forget , we just keep it real.
Agree, got to have shooters to replace brea and Robinson. Have not done so yet. Just can't get excited with Johnson, Williams and point guard being able to produce points when needed.

Haggerty is NOT coming to UK, he is just like Wilkerson, he doesn't want to be "just another player" he wants to be THE player.

Sarr is VERY unlikely also. NBA 1st round or Illinois is my prediction. I would say 80% he goes to Illinois, 20% NBA.

Might as well quit dreaming for these 2. Focus on Watkins and a couple other more attainable players.
But again, Watkins is not a scorer. Don't understand why everyone is excited about griffin and Watkins and not for the better shooter, eaglestaff?

You normally post good stuff, so I’m a little surprised when you said, referring to his soph year, he wasn’t very efficient. He had very good to excellent to elite efficiencies in various shot aspects. I posted the synergy information earlier in this thread.

Surely you didn’t just look at 39% from 3 and call it a day, right? (Also, 39% on 5.5 attempts per game is really, really good).

Sub 40% from 2 in the Summit League does not make a high major scorer.
Maybe not, but he has a scorers mentality
Uk hasn't had anyone flirt with 40 or 51 point games since meeks. This kid did both in the same year. His shooting % would increase with better players around him. Griffin shot terrible last year, yet he is a good prospect? Give me a shooter/scorer anytime

Well he had 3 against OKLAHOMA ST but I get what you’re saying 🤣🤣🤣. Plus people will have bad games we’ve all seen it. Agree one game doesn’t make or break a person it’s whole body of work

I don’t know about Griffin. In general I’m baffled by everyone clamoring to find a shooter equal to Robinson and Brea as opposed to replacing them with better overall basketball players.

He turns the ball over way too much for my taste considering his usage. Inflated offensive numbers because of the offense he was in. When you look at his first and third seasons they're not that different.

Maybe he can get that back. I'd rather us not be the one to take the chance. If we do get him Hopefully he can shove my post in my face.

He averaged 0.9 turnovers per game last year.

Btw, very different player between the two years:

Not propping, just going from memory, I think he stepped out of bounds in each of three games I watched. Those kind of unforced turnovers stick in my memory more then trying to create and turning the ball over.

He turned the ball over nearly 14% of every 100 plays his sophomore season while 7 other players handled the ball more. He benefited tremendously from the Bama offense.

We now have 3 seasons of demonstrated performance out of him and 2 of those seasons look nearly the same. His freshmen year and his most recent season. If you think those 2 seasons are outliers that's fine. Im not a fan.

Because right now there is no 3 point shooters, especially at the small forward spot. The kid from Bama is no scorer, and Williams is unproven against stronger competition. The point guard shot low % last year, jj is unproven, Noah and Perry are very limited. If oweh does not return, then scoring will be a major problem

Mike Ezell. Good to meet ya and chat, again. I'm mostly pretty easy going, especially with like minded uk fans. That guy last night just wanted to look important at my expense and I simply called him on it. He knew exactly what I meant in my post and he came at me in a rude way. I just let him know I'm not ok with it, is all.

I enjoy your posts even if we don't always agree. We do, way more than not. Keep it up, friend.

I just feel like if we are compensating for a current lack of three point shooting by opting for lesser overall players then we are already screwed. I also feel like I’m the only one who looks at Robinson and Brea last year and says “we have to do better than that.”

Uk does need better overall players, but to me it seems like they have gone from scorers to more defense/rebounding oriented guys. Just traded one skill for the other, not better players. The Bama kid fits the defense/ rebounding, now get a shooter/scorer, like eaglestaff.

What if we literally can’t afford the players y’all want? It’s something I’ve been thinking about. We spent allegedly more than 10M which I’m sure we thought would be near the top but there are something like 10 schools reportedly spending that much. If we don’t have the money, we simply don’t have the money.

As fans, we all know how about NIL and to give through the collectives but not all of us can afford to do much. I know every Kentucky fan would love if we could just put the optimal players we want into the cart and checkout like it’s Amazon but what if that’s not possible for us? What if we are having to operate within a budget, because we have large, albeit limited funds?

I agree with ya. Both were scores and both improved defensively but both were horrid on d at the start of the season and neither were strong at creating their own shot. Yes, we need to do better. No intentionally knocking those guys but we just need to step it up a notch or so in critical areas, from those guys. It is what it is.

agree with that but just don't see Griffin as better. He is also a poor defender.
