Homecoming at SC State. Shooting 1 dead 2 injured. So sad you cannot go to your alma mata and not get shot. This is extremely bad for everyone and gives our state a bad name.

So welcome home to SC State. Like their previous history they never seem to get it right.

It's truly sad to hear. Hunting at our property in Neeses, not that far away, you listen to things, and none of it's good. Sad because I've grown up around the Oranburg area and known some of the best people in our state.

The sooner we learn to love our neighbor and respect human life, the better off we will be. The unfortunate thing is that our world's history tells a different story about our future. Way too much emphasis on "which side" you are on, and if you disagree with me, then these are the actions.

Prayers to the families affected.

I thought SC State was in such a dire financial situation a few years ago that they were actually contemplating shutting down. Who came to the rescue?

The problem with homecoming at State is the large number of non-students and non-alumni that attend the event. Usually there are about ten thousand people who attend the game, but the concerning problem is the large number of people who just "hang out " on the campus. There are probably fifteen to twenty thousand people just "milling" around which leads to problems. The administration at State needs to take a "hard line" on eliminating tailgating once the game begins. This has been a problem at State since the 1990's.

Those are norms at HBCU homecomings. I'm in my fourth year of attending them. I know whereof I speak. However, though extremely unstructured and a somewhat licentious, I have never felt endangered at one - up to now.

Tailgating doesn't end when the game begins at WB, why should it be shut down at State?

Most definitely. It's not students from State and other schools in the area, but all the other elements that come out. From my understanding, the shooter was a high school kid.
