SD appears to be heading to 4-6 season which is huge for them. West appears to be taking the cellar dweller place in the 1A/2A CCC. SD is playing to win and WD looks like they just want to get on the bus.

West is a mess. Congrats to South! Rooting for the coaching staff down there. They’ve been embraced by the community and that is what it is going to take to right that ship.
Now…. How can West be fixed? The last coach accepted and embraced mediocrity. The social media I’m seeing from West fans seem to be doing the same thing now. West can’t blame it on size. What is the fix?
Also… its important to note that it looks like South Davidson is going to be in the playoffs as well.… and not one of those “filler” teams that just one a game or two.

South plays hard for the coaching staff and many of the starters walked out of the hallways into a uniform without much experience. They get a good off season of weights in and I could see them being 5-5 next year. As for West, they have embraced being a losing program for a long time and when they hire it is internal for the next mediocre coach to guide a losing program. WD needs to reach out and get a coach that will come in and rebuild. They have plenty of size and good numbers. If it were me, I would have them in a double wing with those big lineman.
I seen West scrimmage in August at South Stokes before my team played.. they had a TON of kids out and looked quite impressive size wise. But when it came to play time something seemed off. They weren't that physical on the line and they honestly weren't that fast in the backfield. It honestly surprised me because every West team I seen before over the years would at least pound you and have a solid run backer in the backfield. I was disappointed. Meanwhile Trinity was also there and they played much better. It's what West should strive for.
West badly needs a shot in the arm; they've been accepting being mediocre for ages and they shouldn't. This year it seems like they don't care which makes it worse. Time to quit hiring good ole' boys and find someone from out of the area. It does work and will in this case.
Getting new blood and getting easier on the schedule would help them a lot. They won't ever contend in this current conference they are in but if they win a majority of their non conference games it would help them a lot.

Yes, some AD's like to schedule much better and bigger county schools to make the gate. West should not be playing teams like Ledford, Central and some of the others. They need to schedule a few 1A teams early and get some wins and confidence. That is what SD did. They played and beat some really low tier 1A schools but it helped them later get to a 4-6 season. If SD had played bigger teams like Trinity, Ledford, N Stanley, etc they would have been 1-9.
I just had to go look at Trinity’s schedule this year. I was amazed that they have won 4 games. Then I looked at the 4 teams they beat. Literally 4 of the worst teams in Central North Carolina. The only thing that Trinity is doing right is finding terrible teams to play.
Remember seeing West for our homecoming in 2019, their team was massive. Thought they were going to put up a fight but we won 48-10. Don't understand that program.
Yeah, just like Ledford and OG to an extent. Depending on who they play in a few weeks both might get beat in the first round of the playoffs.
Trinity's way better a squad than they are given credit for. Very athletic and well coached. Their coaching gets the most out of the kids than they would get otherwise. West doesn't have neither.
Trinity got a dud of a conference draw 2 years ago much like West. Trinity's conference is really tough to contend in, it's the Randolph schools and that's it and they are all tough programs. If they had put them in with B Yancy and North Moore where they should have been they would be neck and neck with them for that title. But you can't help it, just gotta deal. That non conference schedule was smart it helps keep them afloat. Sometimes that's all a program can do.
West would kill to be that well coached and have that style of smart scheduling. Instead they are the pinnacle of a county doormat right now with no optimism. Trinity's not on the rise either but they can at least have attainable goals and get some wins. West has nothing. Sad.

West High is a weird animal. When I was at Tyro in my younger days Reeds won the county two years in a row. We took those kids and only lost to North. Those kids never won more than four games when they got to West. Quite a few linemen went on to play college ball. It's sad but mediocrity and much worse is accepted at West for whatever reason.
