.......... the most recognizable College Football Coach in American is questioning the direction of College Football. Interesting, don't you think? [smoke]

http://www.cbssports.com/collegefoo...her-have-bowl-games-or-have-playoffs-not-both

Is there anything he doesn't cry about anymore? I tell you what's diminished the interest in bowl games. Adding more crappy ones all the time. You win six games, if even that, and everyone gets a trophy and a ring and a swag bag and a long vacation at a luxurious resort and a gift card to Red Lobster. It's a joke. 2/3 of the teams in college football get to go to bowl games now with the ones they just added. Who the hell cares about the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl? I mean, I love football and I'll watch most anything, but that's a stretch even for me.

If you have a top 20 playoff i would be for it but if you go with what we have now then only the blue-bloods geti all the best players and there is not any thing for the other teams to work for as in a bole game and they wont get a extra 30 days of practious

20 team playoff is 5 more games (for the final 2 teams) after the regular season for the championship. That is a pretty long season for a college team. I think having an 8 team playoff is going to be difficult enough to get to and that is 3 additional games (for the final 2 teams). 20 teams also results in an odd number of teams left in the third round, with 5 teams left, how do you determine who plays who? While I agree that the plethora of bowl games has diluted the product, I don't see why an 8 team playoff and the bowl system can't coexist. 7 top tier bowls get to host the 8 teams in the championship, and the rest of the bowls continue what they were doing.

Georgia Southern was in FCS (1AA) football for some 30 years. The 1aa football playoff system started in 1978 with the top 4 teams competing, then went to 8,12,16 & now 21 I think. You have auto bids for the best team in each conference then open bids for the top teams. Personally I thought 16 was a good number, but FCS does not have any bowl games so maybe 21 is a good number, I don't know.

I prefer an 8 game playoff for FBS and keep the bowls for a good job done. I would also like to see the top 4 teams play at home for the first round to reward the top teams fans and save on travel expenses for at least one of the schools while guaranteeing a full stadium. My (UCF) brother prefers a top 16 team playoff and bowls for the rest.

You want 20 teams in the playoffs? That too many. I'm in favor of eight and that's where we'll be in five years from now.

Be mindful gentlemen that Urban Meyer has also expressed concern about the direction of college football....... in particular the length of the season required by the CFP and it's dynamic considering the 85 scholarship limit.

You think maybe Jeff Long will reconsider his response....... o_O
