I remember him coming into NFL and playing, just shows you how old we're getting now, too!!!!! Why is it that Bob Gain isn't in the Pro Football Hall of Fame? He was in 5 Pro Bowl games, 7 times 2nd team all defense, won 3 league championships, won defensive lineman of the year (equals defensive MVP today) and helped lead one of the league's toughest defenses over his 12 years with the Browns. Seems like qualifications for Hall of Fame for a lineman to me. Am I wrong?

One of the all time greats at not only Kentucky but also college football and the NFL. He was one of the first names I remember as a child following UK. I think he may have been my dad's all time UK favorite. The Kentucky Babe and Bob Gain were household names around our place. He played in an era where you played both sides of the ball. Defense and offense.

Aren't those memories so endearing? I remember him well! May God Bless Him and His Family abundantly!!!

Bob Gain is (was) my uncle. I haven't seen him in years. Thanks for the post to let us know. He used to come back to Lexington all the time when I was little. Used to have races in my grandmothers back yard. We all used to show out as best we could to try and impress him. Gentle giant but very athletic. He was great with kids. Very sad at this news but again thank you for sharing.
