The SEC is now a big tent, geographically (the ACC isn't even contiguous, so don't know how you'd describe that conglomeration).

Austin ain't what it used to be and has gone the way of most liberal cesspools.
Look for a return to the Carolinas fairly soon.
True, but for kids it’s still a great place. Great restaurants and the live music scene is second to none. Hill country is cool too. Hotter than Cola though.

Maybe; maybe not.

I don't think they go somewhere for a town; look at clemson.
Columbia isn't exactly a huge draw as a town for college kids. I don't recall hearing many students or former students talking about how they fell in love with Columbia.

Clemson has some appeal to some kids because it is small and they don't feel overwhelmed. A lot of HS kids come from smaller towns.

Our staff clearly had good relations with him and we will get him in a couple of years (for a lot cheaper price) when he enters the portal.... ;)

And a history of a complicit cover-up scandal that should nauseate anyone.
That scandal is 15 years old and no one involved is still at the school or in the program. HS kids today have no memory of that story at all. A better reason to not go to Penn State is that their coach is a total *******.

Should other schools use the steroid scandal at Carolina against us in recruiting?

So, you're saying it was justified because it happened a long time ago? And I agree on Franklin. I'm not biased here. If that type of cover up occurred at Carolina, I would disown them and not ever have another thought.

I never said it was justified in any way. It was horrible. My point is; today's recruits aren't even aware of that scandal, the same as Carolina's recruits aren't aware of the steroid scandal.

By your standard, no black players should ever play for a team whose school was segregated in the past.

As damnable as it was, it was also dealt with stringently on multiple fronts and does not devolve on the current staff or athletes. I wish that our own university enjoyed the same academic and research attainments as Penn State.

What a misbegotten representation of his intent. I believe I'll just go ahead and "disown" you right now.
HIs intent was to rebut an opinion, when he could have left well enough alone. And to conflate Steroid use by adult men with what happened at PS suggests he might have bigger issues than my opinion about PS. I know full well the downside to Steroid use. My sister dated Steve Courson while he was at Carolina. She told me about his wild mood swings that eventually ended their relationship. The rest is history. The part of the Penn State scandal that it was seemingly common knowledge by a lot of people that turned the blind eye in the name of the cult following. And I distinctly remember the very next year after it was dealt with, 4- and 5-star kids were hanging their hat on the PS banner. It all seems odd to me and me stating so shouldn't demand a retort.

I mean this only to be helpful. I think the pushback you got was because of the statement "So, you're saying it was justified because it happened a long time ago?.."

I think the reaction was that he was in no way saying that at all. And that it seemed odd you got that from his statement.

His point, as far as I read, was not that the scandal was okay because of time passed, but that current recruits wouldnt care, or care as much, since it happened when they were toddlers.

Anyone with even nominal perspicacity would have understood the intent of the Pisces' post currently in question. Somebody was wanting to start something.
