I didn't watch the whole game, but watching the highlights of RMU vs Bama, he really seemed to struggle on defense. Is that reality, or was it b/c Bama's highlights just coincided with the times he was struggling?
Just seems like athletically he'd struggle a bit on the defensive end.
Bama’s highlights wouldn’t showcase him doing well against them for obvious reasons.
Another thing is that big guys would struggle a bit with Bama due to pace of play and they had crazy athleticism. I mean Duke had no issues but Duke is stupid good this year, as much as I hate them
Sorry... to clarify, the highlights were just general highlights of the game for both teams, but those are almost always just good scoring plays. That is why I was asking... did he play good defense "much/most" of the time, but the only time he was showing up in the highlights were b/c Bama just made good plays?
In his own highlights (portal, etc), though, he doesn't move really well and plays mostly below the rim. So, my concern is regarding what appears to be average/below average athleticism and playing defense in the SEC.

One thing to factor with Alvaro is RMU playing the 341st ranked SOS by defense in KenPom this season. Bailey at Davidson by comparison was 142nd.
Really like what I see from both guys and either would be a great addition.

Mara is exactly what this team was missing this past year. He had 8 games with 3 or more blocks this past season. Not sure what the deal was with his inconsistent play time though, he produced when he was on the court
I think we have good chance with Alvaro despite the decision of other frontcourt players.
If Gawth comes here, I do not think we will recruit Mara even if Garrison leaves.
If Gawth comes to Michigan, I think we will pursue Mara
