Saquon is officially a bust

Man, he is one guy I thought 100% for sure would be a star. But he is just a complete shell of his former self out there. Just goes to show there are no sure things.
Bust? Man come on. It’s early in his career. He’s working behind a terrible oline, with no good QB, constant OC changes and dysfunction in the organization. And he’s been injured. Way too early to say he’s a bust. It’s not like he’s washed up and out of the league.

Jim Brown and Walter Payton together, in their prime, could not do anything with that hapless excuse for a team. I heard a talking head say today that the Giants are the first team he has ever seen that does nothing well. He said they don’t even cover kickoffs well. I don’t know if that’s true but point taken. They are awful.

Barry Sanders ran behind possible the worst line in history in 1998 and got 1400 yards. I don't think Saquon is a bust, but I still think some under estimate what the injuries have done to him. Booker ran behind the same line last week and got 72 yards.

His ankle and knee injury's make him look real pedestrian- the line dose not help either. Hope he gets 100% for next year.

His yards per carry are a half yard short of the other RBs on the team. It’s not all the OL. He hasn’t lived up to the second pick in the draft for sure.

Bust may be a too harsh criticism at this time, but I would say major disappointment for sure. Injuries have added to his failure, just like Kijana and Blair Thomas

Of course he lived up to being the second pick in the draft in his rookie season. Look at what he accomplished behind a lousy OL when he was healthy in his rookie year. His second year was good too, although he started to get injuries then. You have to distinguish between the SB before and after injuries. He was FIRST-Team All-Pro his rookie year. How is that not living up to being the second pick in the draft?

It’s not living up to the second pick in the draft if he only had one good year. Injuries are part of the game.

And Booker only had 27 yards today. Much better YPC though.

Probably should have shut Saquon down after the ankle injury. His body needs rest. He was never going to make his living between the tackles. Just wasn't his game.

There is no sidestepping it. Injuries can have a collective impact. He needs an extended injury free period.

The average career length for an NFL RB is about 2.5 years. It's a brutally difficult position to play. I don't believe he (or any RB the way the game is played today) should have been taken #2, but with that said he has not been a bust either.

Same can be said about the Steelers taking Najee as well. No doubt these guys are extremely talented, but they’re entirely dependent on an offensive line. Higher picks would have been best spent on defense for PIT.
Article had a paywall, but essentially the key is how far the back goes before first contact . Um, yeah . The metrics seem to support plug and play RBs with a good OL.

QBs, OL, EDGE or shutdown corner, thats it top 12 or so. Imagine Micah on my birds instead of 6. I LOVE 6 but DAMN our boy is a MAN.

Disappointing, but rookie of the year is not awarded to busts.

Best this year, 2nd round #41: Jonathan Taylor
#2 is joe mixon 2017 / Round: 2 / Pick: 48
#3 is nick chubb second round with the 35th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.

I see a trend and it’s name is second round

the main criticism I had heard about him before these last few injuries was that he had too many negative yardage plays. I think it was Skip Bales (sp?) showed Saquon had one of the highest negative yardage totals and % of carries negative of any NFL back. The other RBs on NY seem to be a bit more consistent and do not have as many of the negative plays.

What f-ing difference does it make what round they’re drafted in? Labeling Barkley or McCaffrey busts shows you don’t know s—- about football and you’re stuck in the instant gratification vortex. If they suck because they suck, that’s bustworthy. But being felled by injuries is a whole other ballgame. Take your expectations elsewhere.
