Honestly between his recruiting and the "give the ball to our best player and hope he wins iso" strategy it's like he studied under Cal.
Live look at K disciplining Scheyer:

Scheyer commented about being concerned with Duke’s cramping.
What did he have to say about their chocking?

He is young. We know that feeling all to well. He will be an elite talent. What we saw tonight, was a group of grown men, outlasting a possibly better talented team. Our older players did not wear out, and crack down the stretch. We also saw a team, still learning how to play with each other, and learning a new system with only 1 player having any clue what pope is running. What's scary, and should have the basketball world worried. is the last two games, UK has not played it best basketball, and found a way to win. Win with most likely lower level of talent than pope will have in the future. Won with his system still not fully ingrained into the players. Key will be getting that talent, and keeping them here for more than a year. If pope can manage that, then look out.

Men beat boys. Duke has not learned that lesson yet. Flagg is no Zion. They have had better coaching that maybe keeps them stuck in winning recruiting class ranks and NBA draft day Cal BS. Will they learn? That is TBD.

Flagg isnt even their most important player. Their big man is their most important player.

Flagg went out first half with foul trouble. Thats when duke actually pulled away some. However when the big man started cramping, we finally closed and pulled ahead at the end. If he doesn't cramp, they wij going away.

Just dont see in college too many 7'2" athletic big men like that. He shut down all our back doors and dives by just standing there. It let them put lots of pressure on everyone on the perimeter.

Duke will be a handful by year end. Don't kid yourself
They already are but UK will cont to improve as well.
Last night was just the 3rd real game “all” of these upperclassman have played together and that with a new Coach and scheme for all as well.
Dont kid “your” self.
We beat Duke in Nov and will beat them in March if need be.

Has duke become a satellite campus of Cal U? Their coach starts off the presser with the young excuse. Their fans are acting like it was no big deal to lose in November. I’m sure one of them is yelling to their cohorts “wait for March!!”

This. When the pressure gets to them in March, who knows if they will fold or not?
I think Duke will be fine come March barring injury like any of the other top teams. The key is to get the 7'2 kid out of the game. The Kentucky vets schooled him but he still had an impact. This Wildcat team should punish teams. Everyone just knows how to play and I can't see them let any guards just take over and drop 30 and 40 on them.

Dude had 26 points. The “he’s young” argument is ridiculous. Does he need to score 50 before they stop making excuses?

I’d understand if he had a game like Robinson just had, but he clearly didn’t have a bad game. Better team just won.

That's a great damn point. It's not like Flagg had some terrible game, and he wasn't cramping either this game (which we all knew wasnt going to happen).

Scheyer is out here acting like his star player just gave a C-performance. I'd say he gave a B+ and just made some costly turnovers at the end. Let's not forget he was single handedly keeping Duke afloat in the 2nd half with a lot of those mid range shots.

Flag is a great player but I thought duke played their best when he went out for that stretch after his second foul in the first half.
Yeah, the other freshman was cooking that stretch. I am not going to lie. Duke has them a solid squad as well.

Yes. I think duke is a very good team. Probably safe to say neither of these teams want to have to face each other again in the tournament.

One thing was certain, after picking up 2 fouls and sitting the last 6 minutes of the first half, he wasn't going to be in foul trouble the 2nd half. He was out there mugging guys and never picked up another foul after half time.

Yep, he's right. He looked like a 17 year old several times, especially down the stretch. He also looked like an NBA talent, without a doubt. But I'm thrilled to be on the other end of hearing that excuse.
He's very talented. Not even a question. They are legit contenders.
