Scholarships Available?

Just out of curiosity I was wondering if anyone knows how many scholarships we have available.
With Tre returning and Carey, Moore, and Ellis coming in plus our returners, do we have any left?

Why does anyone have to announce they’re coming back? I think the only announcement should be if they’re leaving. No announcement should mean they are returning. Imo

Based on the players that will be graduating (Vrankovic) and the players that will be/could be leaving for the NBA and players already committed for next season we should have somewhere from 2-4 scholarships available for next season.

Reddish, Zion, Barrett and Big V is four. If Bolden or Tre leaves that’s five and Justin Robinson is on scholarship but I don’t think he’ll have an issue giving it to someone to help the team so that’s possibly four or five in all.

With Vrankovic graduating if everyone but Zion, Cam, Tre and RJ returns plus the 3 recruits already committed next season then we would have 3 scholarships available.

Here's the only possible way we max out our scholarships. Tre and Bolden return, we sign Matthew Hurt and Kira Lewis. In this scenario:

Sr (4): Bolden, DeLaurier, White, Robinson
Jr (2): O'Connell, Goldwire
So (3): Jones, Baker, Lewis
Fr (4): Carey, Hurt (we're not signing Hurt and Watford, one or the other), Moore, Ellis

And even still, J-Rob's scholly could still go elsewhere. K has a history of not having an overly crowded lineup (I suspect he knows 13 highly-recruited players could lead to locker room frustrations and inevitable transfers). 1991 and 2017 are the only years where we've maxed out our scholarships on 13 players that were recruited.

Justin Robinson is a walk-on. As with all Duke walk-ons, any scholarship is subject to availability. He knew that going in and has no problem with it.

Yeah he came to Duke as a preferred walk-on but he was probably a scholarship player this season because not counting him we only had 11 scholarship players this season so there were 2 scholarships available this season and he was probably given a scholarship.

Sure. But the question was how many scholarships does Duke have available for additional signees this season. Robinson doesn't factor into this equation.

With Tre coming back and IF Robinson is given a scholarship next season (if 1 is available) and with the recruits that we’ve signed for next season so far, we should have 2 or 3 scholarships available to sign other recruits or transfers
