I don’t like what the summation portends, and the source makes me more anxious as well. Help us out, docrugby, and reassure us that you’re sometimes slightly off in roundball.A trademark of a Chris Collins team.

The game started at 4:30 Fans entered through the main entrance and were ushered into the south stands. The original photo is misleading as it only shows the north stands
It is difficult to get much information from an intra-squad scrimmage but here are some observations:
1. Nance was more assertive, looked for his shot ,making a few 3s
2 Beran is tall but will need to develop confidence
3. Kopp looks more assertive
4. Greer demonstrated a little bit of offense
5. Buie quick awkward shot
6. Gaines showed a little more offense
7. Young fair mobility
8. Jones looks smaller than advertised but can play
9. Turner invisible
10. Spenser strong and athletic-he will play some
Offense still does not generate good shots with no inside game demonstrated
Overall impression-scoring will be problematic
Young will start, because who else?Between Ryan Young and Jared Jones, who seems more likely to start? My hunch is that both will end up around 20 mpg and Collins will play one more than the other depending on matchup, foul trouble, hot hand, etc., but wondering if Young has demonstrated enough development in his RS year to earn the “starter” spot.
It's 600 dollars and that also covers lower level basketball tickets but why let facts get in the way of your negativity.

Played different than Pardon in the scrimmage. Floated outside more and looks to have a better outside shot at this stage. He didn’t look anywhere near Pardon on the Defensive side or on the boards. Don’t know if he has crafty inside moves but I would expect it will take time. He seems like he will contribute this year.At the beginning of the season, Young wil start. I wouldn't be surprised if Jones came on strong later in the year, perhaps Pardon 2.0 in the best case scenario.

Fitz ran off most fans. He whacked fan participation at kenosha, summer scrimmage, practice, spring game. He commercialized access to big donors only. Booted out everyone out of west or east lot unless you give $1000.
Sorry but 70 inch tvs at home become alot better.
32 points in the equivalent of the "first" half isn't so terrible. My opinions are of no more value than anyone else's . I thought all the players demonstrated good skills but with no movement off ball, the offense looks like it will not generate any easy shots..
The highlight was the aggressive offensive play of Nance and to a lesser degree Kopp. Beran just had a poor shooting day but he looks skilled and may be the tallest player on the team. Greer looked pretty good handling the ball. Buie is quick . Gaines has an unusual handle but he looked mare comfortable on offense. If Soencer has an outside shot he can help
The teams were split up pretty evenly but each only scored 32 points in a 20 minute half

Hoo boy.
why hoo boy?
its not a knock on jones. he is a typical freshmen big. young has red shirted and played against pardon all last year. he is big and plays tough.
Pardon played 31 minutes per game in his sophomore season, why shouldn't Young be able to do the same after one year in the program?I think we need solid play from Jones to be competitive. I haven't seen Young play in a live game but asking him to eat up 25 or 30 minutes could be asking a lot, especially with fouls and also the wear and tear of a long season.
Because this will be Young's first season of college ball, not his second. Practice minutes are one thing, competing in the B1G is a whole other deal. Dererk averaged under 17 mpg his first season. I could see Ryan at 20 given fatigue and fouls taking their toll as the season wears on.Pardon played 31 minutes per game in his sophomore season, why shouldn't Young be able to do the same after one year in the program?
Bobby Dandridge has ties to NU bigwigs?I was at the basketball game listening to the infamous BobbyD talk about all the NU big wigs he knew.
I'm certainly not suggesting that he will play that much, just that it's not unreasonable for someone who had a year of big-time college program weight training to physically handle a large amount of minutes. Pardon was obviously a special player for the 'Cats, so maybe it's an unfair comparison.Because this will be Young's first season of college ball, not his second. I guess when I think about the half-time score of a typical game, 32 doesn't seem too crazy. There were many games where I was hoping the team would break 20. Without looking it up, I feel like more points are usually scored in the second half perhaps because defense goes first when guys are tired.Double the total-how many games will you win scoring 64 points a game ? I know that is not a reliable projection but there just did not seem to be any easy shots created by NU's offense. If you have to rely on contested 3 pointers late in the shot clock, I don't think you can win consistently

Jones is the guy I’m most excited about, having seen none of these guys play. I just love the idea that he has played against a high level of competition and has excelled, even as a third banana. It’s Pardon’s profile to a T, except that Jones had an actual offer list (Virginia!, for chrissakes).I'm certainly not suggesting that he will play that much, just that it's not unreasonable for someone who had a year of big-time college program weight training to physically handle a large amount of minutes. Your intuition is partly right. Typically the implied totals for betting are 8-10 pts higher in the second half than the first for a college game (strangely, this is not the case for pro, the two halves are almost exactly even). I've always attributed more points in 2H to the increase in fouls, particularly in the endgame scenarios, and perhaps the possibility of OT. But it may not entirely be due to that, could be a change in defensive energy or execution or who knows what in part.I guess when I think about the half-time score of a typical game, 32 doesn't seem too crazy. NU scored 65.9 ppg last year and gave up 65.1 ppg.
We scored 30.9 ppg in 1H, and gave up 31.2 ppg.
We scored 34.6 ppg in 2H, and gave up 33.1 ppg.
(So maybe we can say that we were a second half team last year??)
In any event, 32 ppg in 1H would likely translate to about 68 ppg overall, which would be acceptable given that our defense is usually pretty good. Particularly if we are able to maintain that against the B1G portion of our schedule. But I don't think anyone would suggest we can take this miniscule sample size in an internal scrimmage as being indicative with any level of confidence.
Got to drum up some interest somehowInteresting. Don't recall an open NU scrimmage before.
It was against each otherThey did one during the Allstate year. I remember thinking how good everyone looked...oops.
Fitting is that with two teams they could only score 64 pointsFitting. Scrimmage ends on a miss.
It could be a fun year if you view it with a lens of how much NU improves over the year. If you are looking for a strong record you are going to be disappointed. This year is about being prepared to win next year. Record wise I see NU in the bottom quartile of the conference.Got to drum up some interest somehow

This, folks. This season is about progress, about growth.
