If money really was the difference then that’s pathetic on everyone’s part. ESPECIALLY if it was the case that we just didn’t want to match it but could. Letting a guy walk that could be the difference between winning the title and not even making a final four should be grounds for your seat getting warm.

He’s a much better athlete than Brea and a hell of a lot better scorer. Brea only averaged double digit ppg once in his four years at Dayton and it was 11ppg. Wilkerson’s freshman year, his worst at 7ppg, is basically what Brea averaged over his 5 year career (8ppg).

I don’t care what his nba projections are. Wilkerson is a star in college. He would have been Reeves/Lanier for us. Which is what we needed to have a shot at a title.

I singled out the shooting and scoring on Brea and Wilkerson because that’s basically all Brea provided.

Our shooting is going to take a big step backwards next year. We needed that guy who averaged 3 made 3’s per game at a mid 40% clip. You have to have 3 really good to great guards to win a title. We have 2 but those two can’t shoot. It can’t be overstated enough how big of a miss Wilkerson was.
