Scoring this year

Who will be our top three scorers, and will all of them be over 10 PPG?

I think we've got 4 definite guys in the 10 points per game range. We'll still probably be relying on Sanders to score about 15 per game (averaged 16 last year). Freeman averaged 13 last year, but that was mostly against lesser competition, so he should see a dropoff but still probably around 10 per game. Williams and Johnson will both probably average 10-12 per game. After that it's a bunch of question marks (Laurent averaged 8 per game last year, could see a slight increase or decrease but I'd assume he's in that range again). We've heard great things about Thiam and at 6'9 if he can shoot...watch out. The bigs...who knows? But I doubt any of them average 10ppg.

We were 290th in scoring and 333rd in defense last year, so I'd agree that improving both is pretty important. Bucket were agonizingly hard for us to get, yet seemed to come with ease for our opponents.

For sure. Like you said, it is a two sided game any way you look at it.

I think scoring will be a little better this year for us. To really make a move, we need 3/5 stops on the opponents trip to the other end.

Shooting will continue to be an issue I fear, but Thiam will definitely be a threat as well

Prior Rutgers teams have failed because of the inability to score consistently between 65-75 points per game.The 3 point shot needs major improvement along with scoring in the front court.

I'd guess Freeman and Sanders get double figures if healthy. Thiam may be close. Sa would need to expand his offensive game to get double figures.

I'd guess two in double figures with three or four other guys in the 6-8 range.

I think this is going to be a defense first team and with Sa, Diallo and Doorson Coach P has some raw material to work with protecting the rim. Protecting the rim (and rebounding) were Calhoun's calling card when Coach Pikiell was an assistant there. I think rim protection and rebounding become the biggest areas of improvement for the '16-'17 Scarlet Knights.

I think Sanders should be 15.6 and Freeman at 10.6, otherwise pretty good.

That is the scenario we would like to see....Freeman's health is very important. We don't want to see Sanders and Johnson scoring 1/2 our points.....unless they average 37-40 :smiley:

I really hope doorson/diallo combine for more than 3.6

Add Sa points and that is 9-10 ppg out of the 5 spot between the three guys in 40 mpg

...I can't see much more than that right now until it is seen on the court

We should score more than 70 as last year we scored 67.7 and we were pretty bad. Coach said we might be able to shoot within the first 10 seconds I believe of a possession. This should increase our scoring. I like your analysis but Omoruyi, Dadika & Batie will never score? I predict about the same total 73.2ppg

I hope Nigel is great. And i understand the optimism based on some stuff we heard last year at practice. I do fear he is being hyped up a bit much on the board. I'd be happy if he and Williams comprise a competent duo at the 2. Especially defensively.

10+ppg from Johnson seems a bit optimistic.
