How is it possible Hyatt and Palm don’t score in second half?

Hyatt’s missed many key shot attempts…Caleb miss ALL of them and could have changed the game with at least 1

And yet - we
Four guard offense is beating no one

Actually it wasn’t really that bad. Paul and Caleb were horrendous on offense yet we only lost the half by 3 and that includes intentional fouling at the end and 2 missed front ends by Paul. Defense was quite good.

The game was lost during that stretch with Wolf in the game in the first half. That’s where we’re going to miss Mag the most IMO. Pike likes to rest Cliff at that point and for whatever reason he’s averse to subbing only one guy at a time. Playing Palm and Wolf together in the front court was rough. Palm hit those shots after once we brought the regular rotation guys back in with him, but that stretch where we went down 13 or so was killer.

Oskar was shooting decisively and with confidence. Thought he earned more minutes second half. Makes one decent drive but instead of finishing throws a bad pass and that was it yet other players having terrible turnovers and shots over and over and keep playing. Too quick to bench him IMO. Put him on Race. He stinks

Mulcahy played 31 minutes took 4 shots and made 1. Scored 2 points
McConnell played 37 minutes took 12 shots and made 1. Scored 2 points

Total unmitigated rancid performances. Burn the film and pray 🙏 it does not happen again.

Flat from MSG.

Doesn’t happen if you play at RAC.

Slow start away?

That’s crazy right?

Crazy like a fox?

I do think going small hurt us on the boards. Lots of offensive rebounds for IU tonight.

This was a case of not matching energy and toughness for 40 minutes

Down 14 to tie game …back to 10, but veneer got over the huno

The defense was outstanding in the 8 minute stretch after we fell down 54-44….we just didn’t score enogh …didn’t play through contact to force a whistle ans way too many fall aways

Hate it when veneer gets over the huno. J/k, funny thing is how the mind can read the typos perfectly.😎

Their defense is so bad Pike feels we can’t play man to man so we play a lot of zone and then give up a stupid amount of points. Hyatt and Palm are out of lineup and we play man and IU doesn’t score a FG in 11 minutes.

The game was there to win if we execute offensively like we did vs MSU

This. Actually - the game is there to win comfortably if Pike can just figure out a first half line up that succeeds in “stalling without burning us” to rest Cliff for a few minutes. Wolf, Oskar and another bench player can’t all sub in together like that. With Mag in the line up, Pike often sat Paul at the same time during this stretch and Caleb / Mag combo picked up the post slack. We don’t have that option now and that stretch absolutely killed us. Before that substitution pattern, we had a few solid stops. I understand Cliff can’t play the whole game but we fed Indiana’s offense the confidence to settle in during those minutes.

Also - Paul and Caleb were awful, but some of it had to do with the foul situations. Both of them picked up early offensive fouls which made them hesitant to drive and take contact the rest of the game. Caleb especially finished a drive early and then after picking up the charge settled mostly for off balanced jumpers the rest of the way and when he did try to drive backed off to any contact that he normally takes and faded away (we have less margin for error now so those guys are going to have to learn to play in foul trouble).
