Could be an OD, but I also read that he may have passed in his sleep. I guess details won't for sure be known for a day or two. RIP Scott

RIP. You were a sweet, sweet teen spirit, in chains.

Amazes me that at 48 years of age, someone thinks they can withstand the drug use like they were 20 something.

If you're over 40 doing hard drugs, then best of luck. You're gonna need it.

It was only a matter of time. Another heroin success story.

I'm confusing him with someone else.....who was another Grunge lead singer, from Seattle naturally, died on a couch and no one found him for a couple of weeks? Weighed about 80 pounds as I recall the story....

Weiland had been
He was a good singer but let's not blow him too hard here.

STP was mediocre, Velvet Revolver was poop city. He was also a huge dick by most accounts, drug fueled or not.
Stp was ok. Mostly commercial grunge hanger-ons. Their songs Plush, Creep, Interstate Love Song are decent and synonymous with the era. His legacy? Would you consider Creed, Staind, and any other crappy post grunge alternative band a legacy? I wouldn't.

People are saying Steve Irwin died in the water, so not a stab through the heart by a stingray barb, I reckon.

What amazes me is Lemmy is a diabetic that drinks a fifth a day and he is alive. And Keith Richards is still going. Genetics I guess.

I tell myself that if I ever hit the lottery, I'm going to buy an entire barrel of Jack Daniels, go out to LA and find Lemmy if he's at home, and see how long it takes for him to go thru the barrel (I know JD can't sell the actual barrel, just bottle up a barrel).

Yes, you can buy a barrel. But it won't do you any good. Lemmy quit drinking Jack. He swapped to vodka.

A few months ago Wayne Static and now Scott Weiland..... Add the lead singer of Alice chains 15 or more years ago .... man , drugs are taking the lead singers of all my favorite bands. ... drugs might as well claim Metallica too the way they've fallen off the map.

STP was a big part of my teen years. They weren't my favorite and they didn't suck. I was more of a thrash kid who thought grunge was too slow and mopey at first but eventually embraced it. Post-grunge, however, can DIAF.

I know I'm in the minority, but I really liked the first Velvet Revolver album for what it was - a straight forward rock record with some mainstream radio stuff mixed in. (Full disclosure: I'm an original Guns N' Roses fanboy because in 1988 Appetite For Destruction blew my 8-year-old mind like nothing else could.)

Loved STP and that whole era although they were squarely behind AiC and Pearl Jam for me. Still, feel like the musical comparison to Pearl Jam a lot of people often made was pretty unfair, I thought they were in their own lanes by a decent enough margin.
